Five Bold Predictions For WWE Royal Rumble 2021

facebooktwitterreddit

The excitement is in the air and that must mean that it is Royal Rumble season. The show full of shocks and surprises always packs a punch.

The Road to WrestleMania 37 is just getting started. The first stop along the way is arguably the best part of the trip. That is right, it is time for the Royal Rumble. The brainchild of the late, great Pat Patterson has been a fan favorite since its inception. It is hard to believe that this year will be the 34th Royal Rumble.

As we head towards the show, the card is starting to fill up with matches. We recently learned that Goldberg will be returning to face Drew McIntyre. It goes to show that the old motto is still true, anything can happen in WWE. With that said, we like to have a little fun and look for those home-run like predictions. Here are five bold predictions for the Royal Rumble.

5. Brock Lesnar Returns

It was only a year ago at the 2020 Royal Rumble that Brock Lesnar was still the biggest threat in the company. Brock entered the Rumble match at number one as the reigning, defending WWE Champion. He stood dominant in the ring, eliminating everyone in his path at the beginning of the match. For nearly a half-hour, nobody could stop Lesnar.

He eliminated 13 superstars before Ricochet hit him with the most devastating wrestling move: a low blow. Drew McIntyre followed up with a claymore to eliminate Lesnar from the Rumble. McIntyre would go on to win and get one up on Lesnar again at WrestleMania 36 for the WWE Championship. Since then, Lesnar has been nowhere to be seen.

It has been reported that Lesnar’s contract with WWE has expired. If so, this is the first time in eight years that Lesnar is a free agent. However, this is WWE and Brock Lesnar that we are talking about. There is always the chance that Lesnar’s music is heard at the Rumble this year. The Beast could be unleashed again.

4. Carlito Finally Gets His Return

Many fans were disappointed this past Monday when Carlito wasn’t on “Legend’s Night.” It has been years since fans have seen Carlito on WWE programming. It was certainly not “cool” that Carlito didn’t get to appear due to travel issues. However, this could be a blessing in disguise for the former United States and Intercontinental Champion.

Raw didn’t get as many positive reviews as WWE would have liked for a show packed with legends. While it was great to see so many familiar faces, the show fell flat when using them. They were looked over and basically pushed aside for the majority of the show. It was clear that the legends were only to try and draw ratings. Carlito’s return would have been lackluster.

Now, he has a chance to have a better return opportunity. Carlito could join the list of legendary superstars to make a shocking return in the Rumble match. While Carlito was never able to break out of the upper mid-card, many fans have fond memories of him with his signature afro and apple. I would love to see Carlito spit in the face of people who don’t want to be cool once again.

3. Randy Orton Joins The Fiend

Randy Orton is no stranger to “The Fiend” Bray Wyatt. Over the past few years, Orton and Wyatt have engaged in a hellacious feud. Their feud has included a swamp, a Firefly Funhouse, and a lot of fire. The Wyatt Compound went up in flames in 2017 when Orton burned it to the ground. Three years later, Orton would strike Wyatt directly burning The Fiend alive.

Since then, Orton has been changing like everyone who has faced The Fiend. He has seen what things he is truly capable of doing. When Alexa Bliss wanted Orton to burn her alive as he did to Wyatt, “The VIper” couldn’t bring himself to do it. Perhaps doing the most devious thing he’s ever done, he knows that he can’t afford to outdo himself.

He has basically murdered a man on live television at this point. Until Wyatt is seen again, Randy is lucky to not be catching charges. Instead, Randy is going around seemingly proud of himself. That is until The Fiend emerges from the hell he was sent to. Once The Fiend rises, Randy Orton may have no choice but to bow to his former leader once again.

2. Lana Wins The Women’s Royal Rumble

If you want to talk about bold, then here is bold. After being beaten and abused by Nia Jax, Shayna Baszler, and the WWE for the majority of 2020, could Lana start off 2021 in a huge way? It would be a moment that nobody would soon forget if somehow Lana was the last woman standing in the Royal Rumble match.

She is no stranger to being able to do the impossible. At last November’s Survivor Series, Lana became the sole survivor and won the match for the Raw women’s team, without doing a single thing. She was simply in the right place and the right time when Nia Jax and Bianca Belair were counted out leaving Lana as the last woman in the match.

Could history repeat itself at the rumble? In 2001, Drew Carey had an incredible moment when he stood alone in the ring when Jeff and Matt Hardy accidentally eliminated each other. Jerry Lawler joked that if the match was over, Carey would be headed to WrestleMania. Now, that brings us to twenty years later.

What happens if something similar happens and the match is over with Lana standing tall? I believe it would be safe to say that Lana wouldn’t make it to WrestleMania 37. However, what a moment that it would be to witness.

1. The Rock Wins The Men’s Royal Rumble

The idea of The Rock and Roman Reigns fighting one on one has been a fantasy match for many. They are two of the biggest names in pro-wrestling that just happen to be a part of the same family. Even before Reigns’ recent change of character, people have been dreaming of these two colliding to find out who is the top dog in the family.

While it was always a friendly wager at first, Reigns has made this personal. Reigns has proclaimed himself to be the “Tribal Chief” of his family. He has stated that everybody in his family is now behind him. They all back him in his mission of putting respect on the Anoa’i family name. However, there is one family member that may disagree with him.

Reigns can call himself the top dog in his family all he wants. Until he defeats The Rock, he will never truly be the top dog in the family. This is something that everybody already knows, including Reigns himself. He would never admit it, but he knows that there is still one ahead of him and he is great. Unfortunately, while The Rock has said he’d love to face Reigns at WrestleMania, it is highly doubtful.

However, if something changes before now and then, The Rock would be the obvious choice to face Roman at WrestleMania 37. While it is truly the definition of a bold prediction, The Rock can’t be ruled out as a possible winner of this year’s Royal Rumble. If the people come calling for him, The People’s Champion may answer.
