6. Edge Returns At Royal Rumble
The most recent moment to make this list, Edge’s return will be talked about for years to come. After being forced to emotionally give up his career early, Edge was finally cleared to wrestle again. The fans cried alongside Edge when he announced his retirement in 2011 due to prior neck injuries leaving him vulnerable to a life-threatening catastrophe if he continued to wrestle.
While it hurt for a long time, fans finally got over Edge’s premature retirement. Edge went on to find new hobbies outside of wrestling like becoming an actor, a husband, and a father. He was happy outside of wrestling and wrestling fans were happy for him. We were fine with him returning time from time for a fun visit.
But then, it happened. Edge came home for a surprising visit when WWE came to Toronto. When Elias was out in the ring singing a degrading song about Toronto, Edge came out to defend his hometown. However, Edge did something SHOCKING: He hit Elias with a spear! One simple move not seen in years and the internet was scheming.
It was a fantasy but everyone was saying two words: “what if.” People were hoping and dreaming, but nobody expected it to actually happen. Suddenly, during the 2020 men’s Royal Rumble match, the countdown started and Edge’s theme music hit the arena. The crowd erupted in a roar of deafening cheers. Everyone was on their feet as Edge made his emotional entrance. There wasn’t a single fan that wasn’t shocked this night.
5. Undertaker Tosses Mankind Off Cell
People are still reacting to this moment for the first time today and are as shocked as people were when it first happened. Nobody knew what to expect when Mankind and The Undertaker climbed up to the top of the Hell in a Cell at the 1998 King of the Ring. This was something that nobody had seen done before. In only the third match of this type, people didn’t know what was possible.
While some people may have joked about it happening, nobody could have predicted The Undertaker tossing Mankind off the top of the cell. The fans were left in complete shock as Mick Foley’s body flew through the air and crashed through an announce table at ringside. The fans were going insane as Foley laid looking lifeless.
Jim Ross’s commentary will go down in history as he shouted, “they’ve killed him!”. Medics ran down to check on Foley, as did his friend Terry Funk, who, like many others, thought that Foley had been seriously injured. The match should have been over at this point as the cell begin to rise with The Undertaker on top taking in his destruction.
As the story will tell, Mick Foley is no ordinary man. Even after taking such a nasty fall, Foley wasn’t ready for the match to be over. Somehow, Foley climbed back to the top of the cell, but he wasn’t there for long. The Undertaker hit Mankind with a chokeslam and the cell gave way, sending him crashing through. Foley fell all the way to the mat, but even then, he was smiling with a tooth dangling out of his nose.
