Pete Dunne is poised to snatch the title from Finn Balor

At NXT TakeOver: Vengeance Day, we are in for an absolute treat. Pete Dunne and Finn Balor will battle for the very first time with the NXT Championship on the line. As Balor and Dunne have both shown multiple times in the past, this match is one that everybody needs to tune in and see.

Honestly, Balor and Dunne have the potential to break Dave Meltzer’s five-star scale for the first time in company history. Both men have made a name for themselves in the company without ever crossing paths. Dunne was making history as the longest-reigning United Kingdom Champion. While Balor was off becoming the first-ever WWE Universal Champion.

Pete Dunne and Finn Balor have been making their names going in different directions in the company. Now they are storming towards each other.

Both men have earned their reputations as top guys in not just NXT but the entire company. Finn Balor has spent his time winning championships and becoming a name on the main roster. Pete has stayed loyal to the NXT brand since signing with the company in December 2016. Any match the two are in, they are clear favorites to win it. However, who is the favorite when they collide?

Now, that is a difficult question. Finn and Pete have their own respective upsides going into the match. Like Edge said in last week’s episode of NXT, Finn Balor is operating on an entirely different level. However, Pete Dunne is only 27 years old and is operating on his own unique level. We are going to be in for a treat when the two finally meet for the NXT Championship.

Wrestling fans around the world are going to be on the match. Although, no set of eyes may more important than the 2021 Royal Rumble winner Edge. We could be on the verge of the biggest match in the history of the NXT Championship in its first defense at WrestleMania. Last year, Rhea Ripley and Charlotte Flair showcased the NXT Women’s Championship at WrestleMania 36.

This year it could be the men’s main championship showcasing. If Edge decides to go for the NXT Championship, the entire WWE Universe would be in for a shock. However, I doubt there would be anybody that would be against the decision. Edge would be able to put on incredible matches against Balor or Dunne and both would be solidified dream matches.

For now, we are focusing on the match before us. Finn Balor versus Pete Dunne will be a dream match of its own. We can expect a hard-hitting match between the two. They will leave it all in the ring to leave as the champion. Finn has been dominating since winning the NXT Championship back in September.

Finn has fought NXT’s best to remind everybody exactly how good he is. He stole the show against Kyle O’Reilly on two separate occasions. He has held the NXT Championship for over 150 days. Walking into this match with Pete Dunne, we already know that the “Prince” will be elite. This is one of the biggest matches for Pete Dunne’s career.

Despite his impressive accomplishments at a young age, the NXT Championship has evaded him thus far. This will be the first time that Pete Dunne will have an opportunity to become the NXT Champion. With all due respect to Finn Balor, I believe that this is the time for Pete Dunne to be the face of the brand.

He has put in years of hard work in the brand and is a great fit to represent NXT as the world champion. If February 14th isn’t Pete’s day, I expect it will still be coming soon. When we see Finn Balor eventually lose his championship, I believe there is no better pick than “The Bruiserweight” Pete Dunne to dethrone the self-proclaimed “Prince of NXT.”
