WWE: Five potential opponents for the returning Seth Rollins
Roman Reigns
Speaking of Roman Reigns, WWE has made it a point to keep him and Rollins mostly separate since The Shield’s farewell in March 2019, meaning that a match between these two will feel all the more special when the time eventually comes.
Yes, both men are heels, which makes the chances of them wrestling each other in the short-term unlikely. However, we know that Rollins and/or Reigns won’t remain heels forever (especially Reigns). Plus, there are only so many match combinations WWE can go through before they eventually HAVE to book this one (okay, it actually SHOULDN’T get that far given WWE’s roster depth, but they’ll certainly convince themselves otherwise).
If Vince McMahon and his creative team are smart, they should save this one for a show like SummerSlam or WrestleMania. There’s no need to waste this match on a show like Backlash or one of their many gimmick match-centic pay-per-views, let alone on television.
Right now, Rollins and Reigns have plenty of opponents to keep them busy for the next year, particularly if there’s another draft in the spring or fall. But sooner or later, fans will see these two standing across from one another in the ring, and it will likely be for a world championship.
