As announced on The Bump, Molly Holly will be the first inductee into the WWE Hall of Fame’s 2021 class. Former WWE star Shane “Hurricane” Helms made the announcement while Holly appeared as a guest on the online show.

This is the first time in the WWE Hall of Fame’s history that a female wrestler is announced first for the class. Holly is a pioneer of women’s wrestling in the modern era, as she carved out a memorable career during her time in WWE.

Molly Holly’s WWE career wasn’t lengthy, but it was impactful

The former two-time WWE Women’s champion was excited when Helms broke the news to her on The Bump. It is fitting that Helms was the messenger for Holly’s induction since they were both partnered together during the WCW/ECW Invasion storyline, with Helms as “The Hurricane” and Holly as his sidekick “Mighty Molly”.

During Holly’s five-year full-time run with the company, she had lengthy feuds and matches with the likes of Trish Stratus, Victoria, Lita, Jazz, and Jacqueline. Molly Holly’s last major feud in WWE was against Victoria that concluded in a Hair vs. Title match at WrestleMania XX in 2004. She reappeared over a decade later at the first-ever Women’s Royal Rumble Match in 2018 and again in 2020.

Molly Holly left an impact in WWE, as many of the female superstars looked up to her when they were younger. She had a unique personality and was one of the first during the Ruthless Aggression era to bring a different presentation and on-screen presence relative to the other women in the division at that time and she still inspires many to this very day.

Needless to say, Holly’s induction into the WWE Hall of Fame is deserved. A quick note about this year’s edition: the class of 2020 inductees will enter the Hall alongside the 2021 class.
