The current All-Elite Wrestling Roster has 77 wrestlers on it, and the listing doesn’t seem to be getting shorter with the recent signing of Christian Cage and Paul Wight. AEW has recently debuted a second show on their Youtube channel called AEW Elevation. It is important that AEW create more titles that could help make AEW Dark and AEW Elevation mean something to the fans.

When it comes to AEW, they have done a great job of being an alternative to WWE, but with the arrival of AEW Elevation, it would be a good idea to add some more championships to AEW. As a wrestling fan, one of the things we dislike about the WWE is the fact that there are way too many titles. What made the Attitude Era so special was that the titles meant something. The WWE had the World Tag Team, European, Hardcore, Light Heavyweight, Intercontinental, Women’s, and WWE Championships. That is seven championships that meant something when they were being defended by the champion.

Wrestling championships used to be one of the essential things in wrestling. The World Championship was the main aim of every wrestler in their divisions. When you look at the current WWE product, the championships don’t seem to be that important as they once were. AEW has the chance to show that even with multiple championships, the titles can mean something when they are involved in serious storylines, and the champions are made to look strong.

If AEW was to add three more titles, they would have seven titles which would be the same amount of titles that New Japan Pro Wrestling has. In this article, I will name the five titles that AEW should consider adding.

Trios Titles

Six-man tag titles have been finding their place in professional wrestling. Wrestling promotions such as Ring of Honor and New Japan have awarded teams of three that succeed. AEW has been promoting trios since the beginning of the company two years ago.  They already promote trio wrestling, so why not add the titles and make them exclusive to the Youtube channel shows? AEW currently has The Elite, Death Triangle, The Inner Circle, Jurassic Express, Team Taz, etc.; It would make perfect sense for AEW to focus on Six-man tag wrestling. When done right, six-man tag team wrestling can be entertaining and can bring more viewers to AEW Youtube shows.

Women’s Tag Team Title

AEW could build up their women’s tag team division and really put effort into pushing women’s wrestling forward. AEW has a good women’s division with a lot of wrestlers that are left without anything to do. AEW adding a women’s tag title could help create some good moments for wrestlers whom we might not see on Dynamite.

United States Heavyweight Championship

AEW should consider having a United States championship because they could pay homage to WCW by having a U.S title back on TNT television. AEW could do their own version of the Great American Bash and have a tournament to crown an AEW United States heavyweight champion on Dark.

Open Weight Championship

The Open Weight title idea is from NJPW, where the first open weight championship was created. The idea of the title was to help elevate younger wrestlers. This would be the perfect title for AEW Dark and AEW Elevation because it would allow new wrestlers to be showcased and to have a reason to go to battle with each other.

Junior Weight Championship

This is a title that would come with a weight limit and would be like the NJPW Junior weight title. One of the things that made TNA wrestling so successful in the beginning was the fact that they had the X division, which was a step above WCW/WWE Cruiserweight divisions. If AEW was to add a Juniorweight Championship, then they should follow the earlier years of TNA wrestling to see how to book a division like that because it was must-see television.
