It’s been a rumbling story for the past few weeks, but the “Wednesday Night Wars” are effectively over. Announced via a press release on Tuesday, WWE NXT is moving to Tuesday nights beginning on April 13.

“WWE and USA Network today announced a multi-year extension for NXT, which will move to Tuesday nights live on USA Network at 8/7c beginning April 13,” it was noted in the release. “The new agreement for the live, weekly two-hour show furthers WWE and USA’s nearly three-decade-long relationship.”

Nearly one month ago, both Mat Men Pro Wrestling Podcast and Cultaholic broke news about the impending move to Tuesday nights for the Black and Yellow brand. Back then, a date for the shift wasn’t known, but it was widely speculated that the change would come after the WrestleMania season of events.

Since late 2019, NXT was moved from the WWE Network to the USA Network in an attempt to compete with All Elite Wrestling. While there were some brief moments of competition, the majority of the weeks went the way of AEW, as that brand continued to gain momentum as NXT’s ratings continued to stagnate. This change in schedule also caused a change to the IMPACT schedule, as that show will move to Thursdays, starting on April 8.

“By transitioning NXT to a Tuesday timeslot where WWE has performed well in the past, we are giving our passionate fanbase more of what they love with back-to-back nights of exhilarating, live programming,” said Frances Berwick, Chairman, Entertainment Networks, NBC Universal.
