Mike “The Miz” Mizanin is fresh off a show-stealer on Night One of WWE WrestleMania 37 with Bad Bunny, but his busy season is just getting started.

He and his wife Maryse, best known by the WWE Universe as a two-time Divas Champion and former valet of “The Awesome One”, are about to usher in the remainder of Season 2 of their hit reality series Miz & Mrs. on USA Network, premiering Monday, April 12.

On top of all that, Maryse released her very first skin-care product last November. Several episodes of the show in Season 2 featured footage of Maryse making that dream a reality, all while Miz attempts to take care of their two daughters, Monroe Sky and Madison Jade.

Miz’s father George and Maryse’s mother Marjo are also a part of the charismatic cast and tend to steal the spotlight with their over-the-top antics. Every episode is another adventure in the life of the Mizanins and can be even more outlandish than what Miz is involved in on WWE TV.

Ahead of the return of Miz and Mrs. on USA Network, Miz and Maryse spoke with Daily DDT about the show, WrestleMania memories, parenthood, and more.

The Miz reminisces about his favorite WrestleMania memories

The Road to WrestleMania is consistently chaotic for the Mizanin family, but this year was perhaps their most jam-packed yet with everything they have going on.

WrestleMania 36, their first “Show of Shows” since the birth of their second daughter Madison Jade in September 2019, was a bit different due to the circumstances in the world at the time. However, WrestleMania 37 featured WWE’s first live crowd of any kind in over a year and Miz had the chance to compete in a high-profile match on the card.

“We start training in January, so by April, we’re eating the right food, training four days a week, doing cardio, doing everything, getting prepared, and getting ready for that big stage,” Miz said. “It’s going to be great having live fans out there.”

It was just two months ago that Miz was wearing WWE Championship gold around his waist for the first time in a decade. During that original reign as champ, he headlined WrestleMania XXVII with John Cena and managed to retain the title.

Getting back to that elusive spot is always on Miz’s mind, but performing alongside his wife Maryse at WrestleMania 33 against John Cena and Nikki Bella holds an even more special place in his heart.

“Main-eventing WrestleMania is always the goal every time you have a ‘Mania match and the goal is to create memories that last a lifetime,” he said. “A tremendous moment for me, and one of my most memorable moments I’ve ever had at WrestleMania is walking down the ramp at WrestleMania with my wife.

“Literally, we had a match in the beginning people were saying, ‘Eh, we’re not sure about, we don’t know if we want it,'” he continued. “Once Maryse and I did Total Bellas B.S., which was a spoof of Total Bellas, people were laughing and wanted to see it. It was one of the most anticipated matches at WrestleMania and people still talk about that program and that match to this day.”

The Miz and Maryse discuss parenthood and Maryse’s latest endeavor

Before getting married in 2014, Miz and Maryse had been dating for nearly a decade. They enjoyed late nights out on the town and everything else that came with the Los Angeles lifestyle, but that changed completely once Monroe Sky was born in 2018.

“We had a group text the other day that said, ‘Hey, do you guys want to go out?’ It was a Saturday night,” Maryse said. “We both looked at each other and said, ‘Gosh, we need to go to bed.’ Eight is like three in the morning. We go to bed at eight. We used to eat dinner at eight, but now we eat dinner at 5:30”

Within months of having Monroe Sky, Maryse was back in the ring by the fall of September for a feud with fellow real-life married couple Daniel Bryan and Brie Bella. She revealed that she gets asked a lot about parenting advice from the women of WWE, including those who don’t currently have kids.

The former Divas Champion departed WWE on her own terms in November 2011. Despite not knowing what the future had in store for her, she’s experienced plenty of success outside of the squared circle, including launching her own skincare product called Volition Beauty.

“It’s available everywhere and it’s going really great,” she said. “I really did it because I wanted something my sister, girlfriends, and mom could use and be proud of. I wanted to be proud of this product and for this product to really work.

“The reviews have been really, really good and I get reviews every day,” she added. “It’s just amazing to see how many women love it and even men. I’ve been testing out all my samples on Mike. Mike’s been a really good sport because guys don’t usually like that stuff.”

The Miz and Maryse explain why Miz & Mrs. is the perfect family show

Miz & Mrs. premiered on USA Network in the summer of 2018 and it wasn’t long before it was renewed for a second season. Maryse finds it to be the ultimate distraction from everything going on in the world right now.

“It’s a good show to sit back and relax and laugh,” she said. “I laugh out loud, like, 30 different times watching the show, and it’s only a half-hour, so that’s a lot. People watch the show and realize their life isn’t much different than ours. It’s different, but they go through all the same things that we go through.”

Miz, Maryse, and the rest of the Mizanins live a luxurious life to a certain degree, but almost everything they experience as a family is fairly relatable. Miz saw an immediate change in how people perceived him once his true self made the TV screen through the show.

“We’re WWE Superstars and we’re villains,” he said. “They hate us, can’t stand us. Usually, on Twitter, people are like, ‘We don’t like you.’ They say such negative things, but all of a sudden, when Miz & Mrs. came out, Maryse and I started getting positive reviews.

“‘Wow, what an amazing show, I’ve never laughed so hard. It’s so relatable. These are the things I’m going through right now. It speaks to me.’ It’s kind of nice to have that positive feedback after 16 years of such hate.”

As executive producers of the show, Miz and Maryse control everything that makes the air and therefore aren’t surprised by what makes the cut. They’re adamant about showing viewers who they are outside of the ring and including all of their issues, hoping it might hit home for those watching at home.

Maryse may still be new to the whole reality TV concept, but having been in WWE for such a long time, nothing comes as a shock to her anymore.

“For almost 20 years I’ve been around entertainment and television and cameras and I feel like, honestly, I’ve done this before but in a new setting because the cameras were in my own house,” she said. “For me, the weirdest part was probably having kids through it. Everything is different. It’s not because of the camera but because of me, personally, having your whole routine changed. I think if anything, it’s a really positive thing. It brought my family together.”

Miz also advised fans to not tell George and Marjo how entertaining they actually are to prevent them from getting a big head about their newfound success: “Here’s the problem. If a fan comes up to my dad and tells him he’s amazing and he’s incredible, it’ll go straight to his head. Same with Marjo. If you can, just say you love the show. Don’t say, ‘You’re my favorite part,’ because that’s all we’re going to hear for the next year.”
