Recently, I had the pleasure of talking with one of Ring of Honor’s hottest new talents, Danhausen. He first appeared on Ring of Honor in November of 2019 where he lost to Shane Taylor in a Ring of Honor World Television Championship match.

When Did Danhausen Get Into Professional Wrestling?

“Danhausen was watching wrestling and saw Kane debut.” He recalled watching Kane tear off the Hell In A Cell door and “destroy” The Undertaker. He described this as “quite the spectacle and very evil.” It was at this moment Danhausen realized he wanted to be a pro wrestler.

Kane was his favorite wrestler growing up because there is “no one more evil” and was always an inspiration to him, along with “Pepsi-Man” CM Punk and Conan O’Brien who portrayed Dracula.

Danhausen’s Early Days In Professional Wrestling

He “was disguised as a regular human being of some sort and it worked for a little bit as he got to wrestle guys like  Johnny Gargano and Ricochet.” He said wrestling Gargano is also one of his favorite opponents that were from very early on in his career. He also said he enjoyed wrestling Isaias Velazquez and Orange Cassidy more recently.

However, he felt like nobody listened to him until he revealed his “true form.” He describes his “true form” as the “most beautiful, most evil version of himself.” He also says that training used to hurt but now he is “thrown stacks of money for his wrestling ability” so he does not care. He also attributes his style of wrestling to “William Regal” who he loves and “Bugs Bunny” because he’s very bendy and evasive.

His mentors in professional wrestling are “Dalton Castle and Mike Bennett” in Ring of Honor. He also says although he isn’t around a lot, “Alex Shelley” has mentored Danhausen a lot and helped him out.

Danhausen Outside Of Wrestling

Outside of professional wrestling, he is a collector. He enjoys collecting action figures a lot. “They are like tiny trophies that are worth money,” Danhausen says. He hopes to one day accumulate “millions and hundreds of dollars.”

His favorite line or person to collect is “Moon Knight” or any Spider-man villains. He also enjoys “bone-crunching action figurines or maximum sweat ones” and mainly collects Kane or Mankind figures. He will buy an occasional “Pepsi-man” figure when he comes across one.

He also likes to watch professional wrestling in his spare time. He loves to watch Ring of Honor and AEW and support his friends “Big Money Matt Hardy, Ethan Page, Orange Cassidy, and Sam Zayn.” He also keeps up with “Lee Moriarty, Trisha Dora, Max The Impaler, All Wonderful, Jake Something” on the indies.

He also enjoys watching the AEW and Impact crossover. He thinks it’s “quite wonderful because it creates more opportunity for everyone to be on television.” Also says “ROH should kick open the door” to join them in the future.

Accomplishments For Danhausen

Recently he was ranked #158 in Pro Wrestling Insider’s Top 500 of 2020. He originally thought he would be number 1, 5, and 8 and was “mad” when he found out he wasn’t and Jon Moxley was given the #1 spot.

It was recently rectified though when he reached out to Renee Paquette, Jon Moxley’s wife. She signed on Mox’s behalf to give him the number one spot. “Next year they better not make any mistakes and Danhausen better just be number one.”

Danhausen says his biggest accomplishment though was getting a Hot Topic T-Shirt. He says it was very nice but, he also wants Hot-Topic to “paint Danhausen on the side of their building.”

Orange Cassidyhausen and Danhausen

One of Danhausen’s favorite and most famous rivalries was with Orange Cassidy. This was the last thing he got to do before the world shut down. Orange Cassidy and Danhausen started as foes but then got attacked from behind and turned into teammates.

“Very geniuses,” he said when both Orange Cassidy and Danhausen put their brains together to be a heck of a tag team. One of his favorite memories is when he and Orange Cassidy “went to the mall right after a match of theirs and got Panda Express.” He always has fun with Orange Cassidy.

Pre-Covid vs Post-Covid

Usually, he “absorbs the energy and powers from the crowd to fuel his evilness, but rather now, he just looks into the camera and absorbs it from the viewers at home. Danhausen transferred his energy absorption from live to not live.” Danhausen said.

He also says when fans return he is really looking forward to hopefully being on TV more, more live events, and hopefully winning the RoH Television Championship which is a goal of his. “Danhausen is already the champion of television.”

He hopes to come back to the indie scene because “he can” and wants to wrestle all the wrestlers he says. “Danhausen wants to reclaim his spot on the throne.” A few wrestlers he hopes to wrestle on the indies are “Jake Something, Lee Moriarty, Trisha Dora, Daniel Garcia, Josh Alexander, and Chris Bey.”

What’s Next For Danhausen?

Right now it is currently a “wait and see” says Danhausen. One thing he does want to do is prove he is the “top of the line on the indie scene.” He also wants to be on television more and win the Ring of Honor World Television Championship.

In Ring Of Honor, he hopes in the future to team with Brody King and Dalton Castle, because he “loves Daltonhausen.” He is also a big fan of the Briscoe brothers and would love to “wrestle them and absorb their powers.” Other wrestlers he named are Jonathan Gresham, Tracey Williams, “the list goes on and on,” he says.

Danhausen is very grateful for his fans and knows that without you guys he wouldn’t be where he is today. He cannot wait to get back to doing what he loves all over the world post-covid and continue meeting his fans.
