AEW Dynamite: Preview and Predictions for April 28, 2021

AEW Dynamite is back this Wednesday on TNT with 6 announced matches and a face-to-face meeting between the Inner Circle and the Pinnacle as they will have a parley before their upcoming Blood and Guts match on May 5th.

Let’s take a look at the scheduled matches for this week’s Dynamite and what to expect from each.

10 vs Darby Allin for the TNT Title

After a slow start to his TNT Title reign, Darby Allin has been defending his TNT title week in and week out for the past couple of months.  He will again challenge a member of the Dark Order as a way to pay homage to Mr. Brodie Lee, who Darby calls the greatest TNT Champion of all time.

This time it is 10, formerly known as Preston Vance, that will step up to the plate against Allin and try to bring the TNT Title back to Dark Order.

While this would be a nice story for Dark Order there just isn’t a member of the stable that is on Darby’s level right now.  10 has all the tools.  He is an agile, strong, and gifted competitor that may one day be the TNT champion.

This match will end much like it ended when these two locked horns many months ago on Dark.  Vance will get the time to showcase his abilities and Darby will take a hellacious beating.  But in the end, Darby Allin will remain the face of TNT.  Winner: Darby Allin

Sydal Brothers vs Young Bucks

In what is being billed as a tag team title eliminator match, Mike and Matt Sydal will take on Nick and Matt Jackson in a battle of brothers.  If the Sydals are able to pull off the upset they will earn a future title opportunity versus the Young Bucks.

This match is coming in from out of nowhere.  With all the talented tag teams in the division, it is hard to explain why the Sydals are being given this opportunity.

There really isn’t a reason to think that the Sydals have any shot in this match.  Them winning would just give us a second installment of a match that really doesn’t need to be happening in the first place.

Matt Sydal was given a similar opportunity against Kenny Omega in an AEW Championship Eliminator match last month.  And to be honest, Sydal looked great.  He never looked out of place as he and Omega put on a match of the night performance.

The same thing may happen here but also expect the same result.  Winners: Young Bucks

Kris Statlander vs Penelope Ford

In this week’s edition of “Excellence in Long Term Story Telling,” Kris Statlander will look to exact revenge against the wife of the man she blames for her recent knee injury.  Statlander had previously hurt the knee performing a dive onto Kip Sabian after Sabian had gotten involved in one of Statlander’s matches.

Now fully healthy Statlander will look to take out her frustrations on Penelope Ford.

Ford is a very underrated performer and has improved by leaps in bounds over the past year.

This should be a fun match, but the more interesting aspect of this match is the fact that Sabian will be in the building for the first time since he and Miro lost in the Arcade Anarchy Match.

Miro needs to track down Kip and lay waste to him before, during, or after this match.  It is absolutely time for Miro to make the clean break from his old crew and then set his sights on Darby Allin with Double or Nothing about a month out.

And oh yeah, Statlander wins.  Winner: Kris Statlander

Dustin Rhodes, Lee Johnson, & Billy Gunn vs QT Marshall, Aaron Solow & Nick Comoroto

To be honest this is a feud that would have been better served being played out on Dark than Dynamite.

Dustin Rhodes and Billy Gunn are legends of the sport and are still remarkably good in the ring despite their advanced age.  But their time as featured performers has passed.

And does anyone really care about QT Marshall?  I will give him credit, he has played the smug, arrogant, chip on his shoulder part better than I ever thought he could. But there are just so many more talented performers that could be getting this air time.

There are some positives, however, to this feud being played out on Dynamite.  Aaron Solow, Lee Johnson, and Nick Comoroto are all young, talented performers that get a chance to shine in the national spotlight during this match.

And this has to be what this match is about.  Let Johnson, Solow, and Comoroto shine while Rhodes, Gunn, and Marshall play complementary roles in this bout.

Comoroto definitely needs to come out of this match with some buzz.  The chair shot to the head that he took last week that had absolutely no effect on him needs to be just the first step into building Comoroto into a destroyer.  He needs to go over either Rhodes or Gunn here to help The Factory build credibility going forward.  Winners: The Factory

Penta El Zero Miedo vs Orange Cassidy

The feud between the Lucha Bros and the Best Friends continues to heat back up as Penta goes one on one with Orange Cassidy.

After picking up a win over Trent? last week, Penta will come into this match with a lot of momentum against the king of sloth style.

This will most likely be a feud where we see many more combinations of matches between the members of these two factions until we get the blow-off match at Double or Nothing at the end of May.

That being said, if we are indeed building towards a showdown at Double or Nothing we can’t have one side dominate the win column for the next 4 weeks.  Orange Cassidy and Best Friends will score some revenge with a win over Penta this week.  Winner: Orange Cassidy

Brian Cage vs Hangman Adam Page

In what should be the main event of Dynamite, the number one contender for Kenny Omega’s AEW title, Adam Page will take on FTW Champion, Brian Cage.

Team Tazz has struggled mightily to pick up any sort of momentum over the past two months.   They lost the street fight to Darby Allin and Sting at Revolution, have been bickering amongst themselves, had their invitation to join Team Tazz turned down by Christian Cage, and then proceeded to lose matches to Christian Cage and Adam Page last week.

At some point, their luck has to change right?

Probably so, but not tonight.  Hangman is on a slow and steady collision course with his old tag team partner and current AEW Champion, Kenny Omega.  I don’t think we will see that match until the end of 2021 and I firmly believe when we do get that match both Hangman and Omega will be undefeated in singles competition in 2021.

Next. AEW: Three men that could stop the Belt Collector, Kenny Omega. dark

And unfortunately for Brian Cage, that means he will not win on Wednesday.  Team Tazz will continue to bicker and struggle to find momentum as Hangman picks up yet another win.  Winner: Hangman Adam Page
