Major wrestling news broke late Saturday night as Andrade appeared in Lucha Libre AAA Worldwide and made a very specific demand that caught the attention of the industry. Andrade used the moment to call out the current AAA Mega Championship titleholder, Kenny Omega. This was a major moment that if pulled off, has the potential to be a match of the year candidate.

Andrade was announced as joining Federacion Wrestling on April 30, where he will be a member of Federacion Ingobernable, teaming with Rush, Bestia Del Ring, and a yet-to-be-named partner against Matt Taven, PJ Black, and two secret partners for that team as well. That PPV is set for June 19.

Omega has been the AAA Mega champion for 561 days, winning the title against another AEW competitor, Rey Fenix at AAA Heroes Inmortales XIII. Due to COVID-19, he has not defended the title as often as expected, but his last title defense was back against Laredo Kidd at Triplemania XXVIII where he walked out successfully after a 25-minute affair.

On March 21 Andrade became the hottest free agent in wrestling when he was released from the WWE. The situation became even more interesting when it was revealed that he did not have a 90-day no-compete clause, which has become a standard practice from the WWE when they release talent. That meant that Andrade could appear anywhere, and speculation was rampant as to where he will appear and perform next. The potential of a match against Omega in Mexico would be a massive moment. If it is pulled off.

As of this time, Triplemania does not have a date. Multiple outlets have reported that the goal is to host the event with fans in attendance in either August or September.

Andrade is another name added to the long list of talent that was underutilized when they were a part of the WWE roster. He, along with Zelina Vega and Angel Garza was featured prominently early during the COVID-19 era of WWE television. That quickly fell off and Andrade was rarely seen on TV. His last match with the promotion was in October as five months would pass before his release.

Andrade’s upcoming tag match in AAA will be his second, post-WWE appearance as he is also scheduled to face off against Alberto Del Rio on July 31.
