Bianca Belair (c) vs. Bayley [SmackDown Women’s Championship]

Bianca Belair and Bayley are one win apiece on WWE SmackDown. Bayley defeated Belair on the December 18, 2021, episode of WWE SmackDown, and Belair defeated Bayley on the Royal Rumble go-home episode of the Friday night show. However, this third tiebreaker match between them will be their first time battling on PPV for the SmackDown Women’s Championship.

Clearly, Belair won’t be losing that title anytime soon. She recently won it in the main event of WrestleMania against Sasha Banks and will be holding it past SummerSlam unless a MITB cash-in catches her by surprise. After Belair defeats Bayley definitively to end their feud, Carmella will attack her after the match. Carmella defeated Ruby Riott this past Friday and will defeat Liv Morgan next week to regain her momentum for a title opportunity against Belair at WWE Money in the Bank 2021.

Many fans may instead expect Sasha Banks to attack her after the match since she would still be seeking revenge from her loss at WrestleMania 37. However, a rematch between Belair and Banks would be best saved for a bigger stage like SummerSlam. Banks will instead focus on winning her first MITB Briefcase to find a way to cash in the contract on Belair en route to the biggest event of the summer and to set up an epic final match between them at SummerSlam.

Rhea Ripley (c) vs. Asuka vs. Charlotte Flair [Raw Women’s Championship]

Our Amit Shukla conjectured that Charlotte Flair is the right addition to the Raw Women’s Title Match. Whether it was the right addition or not, she was definitely the expected one to the Raw Women’s Title Match due to her notorious history with both Rhea Ripley and Asuka. “The Empress of Tomorrow” lost her undefeated streak to Charlotte at Mania 34. Meanwhile, Ripley’s momentum and confidence had suffered ever since she lost the NXT Women’s Title to Charlotte at Mania 36. Clearly, both Ripley and Asuka need redemption against Charlotte.

Despite this logic, it would still be characteristic of WWE to book Charlotte to win the Raw Women’s Title, especially since Charlotte was originally planned to dethrone Lacey Evans at WrestleMania 37. However, Lacey Evans’ pregnancy and unforeseen circumstances with Charlotte in the final weeks before WrestleMania 37 stopped that from happening. If it weren’t for those unforeseen circumstances, this would have been the WrestleMania match and Ripley would have never won the Raw Women’s Title. Ripley was booked as a Plan B.

Now that it is booked for WrestleMania Backlash, there should be no doubt in anyone’s mind that the WWE would book Charlotte to win this match and make up for her lost time at WrestleMania 37. It was already bad enough that she was booked to crush both Ripley and Asuka’s dreams on separate nights in the past five years. Now, she will be booked to crush their dreams in the same night by either pinning Asuka to protect Ripley in defeat or making both of them simultaneously tap out to the Figure Eight Leglock. If not, she will win MITB and cash in on Ripley anyways. No one is safe.
