Roman Reigns (c) vs. Cesaro [Universal Championship]

Although it’s Cesaro’s first one-on-one Universal Title Match, it should be self-explanatory that Roman Reigns is still retaining the Universal Title at this B-level PPV. If Roman loses the title, it will be at a big four PPV, not this one. Also, the only superstar on the SmackDown roster who has any chance of dethroning Reigns is Big E, who has already planted the seeds for that future coronation in many conversations with Paul Heyman on Talking Smack. Kevin Owens has even planted the seeds of winning the MITB Briefcase to cash in on Reigns in the near future.

As mentioned earlier, Cesaro will fail in his attempt to dethrone Roman Reigns but will still look strong in defeat. He will then move on to dethrone Apollo Crews and win his first Intercontinental Championship as a consolation prize on the road to SummerSlam. Meanwhile, Big E’s main event push will come to fruition once he finally transitions out of his feud with Apollo Crews to battle Roman Reigns for the Universal Championship at SummerSlam. That is when fans should really be concerned about Reigns potentially losing the title.

Foolproof Prediction: Roman Reigns

Bobby Lashley (c) vs. Drew McIntyre vs. Braun Strowman [WWE Championship]

To avoid a WrestleMania rematch between Bobby Lashley and Drew McIntyre, Braun Strowman was added to the mix to keep things somewhat fresh. Although he does have a claim for the WWE Title ever since he got suspended in-storyline after last year’s Survivor Series, it is blatantly obvious that he is in this match to eat the pin to McIntyre in order to protect Lashley in defeat. The track record shows that Strowman defeated McIntyre two weeks ago and Lashley defeated Strowman last week. McIntyre will inevitably defeat Lashley on this upcoming Raw to get his momentum for the title match to complete the 33:33:33 booking.

It must be noted that McIntyre has never pinned Strowman in his entire career and was originally planned to win the title from Lashley in front of fans at WrestleMania 37. Clearly, this will come into play in this triple threat match. In terms of plans moving forward, Jinder Mahal has already been spotted on Main Event with Indus Sher, and it’s almost a guarantee that he will have a 3MB feud with McIntyre on the road to SummerSlam once McIntyre wins back the WWE Title. Now, many fans may be unhappy with Lashley’s reign ending so abruptly.

However, Lashley did get his Mania moment and is still on the verge of battling Brock Lesnar at SummerSlam in what will be a non-title dream match. It is understandable that Lashley and Lesnar’s match would be more exciting with the WWE Title on the line, and it is sensible that Lesnar would want to chase the title that he lost at WrestleMania 36. However, the match is already bigger than the title and it is best not to risk putting the title on Lesnar ever again because having a part-time WWE Champion on Raw makes the worst weekly show in professional wrestling even more abysmal to watch.
