Where does Alexa Bliss’ new character fit into the Raw women’s division
By Amit Shukla
Alexa Bliss played an instrumental role in lifting WWE’s Women’s Division. The Five Feet of Fury is phenomenal on the mic and can work well within the ropes. Her work has helped her win the Raw Women’s Championship three times, SmackDown Women’s Champion twice, and Women’s Tag Team Championship with Nikki Cross twice. Alexa can portray a heel and a babyface to perfection.
When she debuted on the black and gold brand, little did anyone know that she would become one of the top-performing female performers in the company. Recently, her involvement within the Fiend’s character arc has created some interesting and controversial moments within WWE television, even hinting at an intergender match with her and Randy Orton that didn’t quite come out as advertised.
This match set the tone for The Fiend’s return in a burn-out mask as he challenged his nemesis for a match at WrestleMania 37. The opening bout on Day 2 of The Shows of Shows saw The Fiend lose to The Viper due to a change of character by the former women’s champion. Bliss seems to have taken on The Fiend’s character, leading to questions about what is next for both individuals.k The bigger question remains that where does this leave Alexa Bliss. How do Lilly and the character rope in with the women’s division of the WWE?
It can be agreed upon that no other women in WWE have played such a character in history, so this is a first in its own right. Alexa Bliss is also a genius in storytelling, just like his counterpart in this storyline, Bray Wyatt. Lilly is an approach used by the WWE to put Alexa Bliss in some meaningful storyline. It is until The Fiend makes his eventual return for revenge. The entire storyline seems similar to Firefly Funhouse characters who would sneak on WWE superstars as Bray Wyatt built his new character, The Fiend.
Alexa Bliss has laid down the input that Lilly loves the color red, and she was in attendance during the six-women tag team match on Raw this week. Three of them will be at WrestleMania Backlash, and one of them has an affinity with the color red. The Queen could be the one in line, and it would help Charlotte get some time away from the championship storyline. Alexa Bliss needs a powerful opponent, and fans don’t want to see the 12-time champion in any championship storyline where she takes away opportunities from deserving superstars.
This bout (with Sonya Deville in sight) and All Red Everything Eva Marie ready to debut on Monday Nights, Alexa Bliss could become the savior where she helps Charlotte showcase her beyond championship win skills. Eva Marie needs someone that can put her over, and Alexa Bliss can serve as the perfect opponent to help her. Sonya Deville needs some time, but if she wants to get back in the ring and become the main story star, then the former Raw Women’s Champion can help her reach unfathomed heights of success.
