There is nobody in AEW who has had a better 2021 so far than Darby Allin. His alliance with Sting has been great in elevating him to main event status and putting the spotlight on him. Coming off of Allin’s historic TNT title run ending with a great match on Dynamite last night, it’s time for him to step out of the shadow of the Icon and become one on his own.

Darby Allin’s recent rise to superstardom proves he no longer needs Sting in his corner to be a star in AEW.

Upon arriving in AEW, Sting formed an alliance with Allin over a shared enemy in Team Taz and Darby has benefited greatly from having the Hall of Famer by his side. The undeniable similarities in their uniqueness and mystique has made them a great pair in AEW. The two shared an iconic moment on the night that Sting debuted in AEW and have been great together ever since.

A proven ratings mover in recent weeks, Allin put together an impressive string of matches on Dynamite culminating with his defeat this past week. During this time, Sting has been in his corner to make sure nobody messes with the TNT Champ, well, unless your name is Ethan Page or Scorpio Sky.

Allin has shown significant improvement both in the ring and on the microphone recently, proving that he no longer needs Sting in his corner to be a superstar in All Elite Wrestling. The allure of Allin continues to grow and yet, there is still so much we do not know about him. Breaking off from Sting would allow Allin to continue to develop as a character, particularly on the microphone, as seen following Dynamite last night.

Whatever he ends up doing, he has proven that he no longer needs the legendary Sting behind in his corner to attract a viewer as all eyes in AEW right now are on Darby Allin.
