Impact Wrestling Results 5/20/2021: New Tag Team Champions Crowned?!
By Sam Gladen
On the heels of Under Seige, Impact Wrestling returns to AXSTV and Twitch to examine the fallout of a huge night of wrestling.
Before The Impact: Hernandez and Johnny Swinger vs. XXXL
Swinger and Acey Romero start in the ring and have a pretty good comedy spot where Swinger attempts to slam Romero and pull him into a drop-toe hold etc., but Romero just stands there before laying him out with a single punch. XXXL is in control for a while, double-teaming Swinger before getting him too close to his corner, allowing for Hernandez to enter the match and beat up on both members of the team before tagging Swinger back in to take the brunt of the punishment.
Larry D and Hernandez are tagged in and Hernandez begins to pick apart Larry over several moments before tagging in Johnny Swinger again for a near fall. Hernandez takes a running start for a dive to the outside onto Acey Romero before he is body checked over the guard rail, leaving Johnny Swinger alone to deal with both men. Larry D makes quick work of Swinger and secures the pin.

The episode of IMPACT starts on a black screen then a picture of New Jack shows on the screen for an in memoriam segment. We then get a quick breakdown of what happened at Under Seige, including a new number one contender for the Impact World Championship and new Knockouts Tag Team Champions.
Rohit Raju w/Shera vs. Jake Something
Jake Something has been on the warpath in recent weeks after Rohit Raju cost him his chance to become the number one contender for the Impact World Championship, and he finally has his opportunity to get revenge.
Raju runs in, attempting to get the jump on Jake before he is laid out with a single punch. The match goes back and forth from here, with both men getting the upper hand for a time. The big equalizer for this match is Shera. He plays his role perfectly here, taking every opportunity given to him by Raju to lay into Jake.
Jake and Raju are some of the guys that I had the least faith in when The Lucha Brothers, LAX, Killer Kross, and Brian Cage left the company, but they have become some of my favorite competitors to watch. They are both deeply impressive wrestlers. This match showed just how far they have come quickly.
Shera plays a huge role in the victory by holding down Jake’s legs so that Raju can secure the pin.

Following the match, Jake seems to break and begins beating down Shera with a steel chair. Then he sets up a table and spears Shera through it. Before staring down Rohit from over his limp body.
We then get a backstage segment with Taylor Wilde that is interrupted by Tennille Dashwood and Kaleb. Kaleb announces that his neck, which has been in a brace for several weeks, is now fully healed.
After the commercial, we get a backstage interview with Jordynne Grace and Rachel Ellering about the loss of the Knockouts Tag Team Titles at Under Seige. Grace, visibly agitated, says that she is going to speak to Scott D’Amore about getting them a tag match tonight.
Kiera Hogan w/ Tasha Steelz vs. Tennille Dashwood w/Kaleb
The match starts off quickly with Hogan and Dashwood trading blows back and forth. Dashwood is able to tie Hogan up in the ropes for a neck breaker and a near fall. The match is then interrupted by a commercial break. When we come back from the break, Hogan has all the momentum on her side. She delivers a devastating dropkick to Dashwood before cockily following her around the ring and striking occasionally.
Hogan’s confidence gets the better of her, though, as Dashwood rolls her up for the pin.

Following the match, Tasha Steelz attacks Dashwood. Then, Susan, Kimber Lee, and Deonna Purrazzo come down to the ring to assist with the beatdown. Taylor Wilde comes down to try and make the save before being outnumbered as well. Then, Havok comes down and clears the ring. After the ring has been cleared, Rosemary makes her way to the ramp to back up her sometimes friend.
In a backstage segment, we see Jordynne Grace tell Rachel Ellering that she spoke to Scott D’Amore and got them a match for tonight. The catch? They are facing each other.
We are then given a video package announcing that Kojima, who recently appeared on AEW: Dynamite, will appear on Impact Wrestling next week.
After the video package, we see a backstage segment with FinnJuice saying that they are going to be taking the Impact Tag Team Championships back with them to Japan and defending them on NJPW programming.
VSK vs. Petey Williams
VSK has quickly found his niche in Impact Wrestling. He is a fantastic base in the ring. He showcased this last week when he competed against El Phantasmo and he continues to do that this week against Petey Williams. But don’t let my compliments fool you. He’s definitely not just a good set of hands. He is strong and has a great look. He will be a great star for Impact Wrestling if they are able to keep him. Hopefully, his streak of showing off other talents’ abilities is coming to an end.

After the match we see TJP at the Swinger’s Palace casino attempting to win the freedom of former tag team partner Fallah Bah. He is successful in winning his freedom and swears that he is so happy to see him again since he was forced to tag with Petey Williams at Under Seige.
MOOSE is then seen in the ring for a promo where he says, “I am the number one contender to the Impact World Championship. Kenny, I understand that you have beaten a lot of great wrestlers. Guys like Okada, Chris Jericho, even psychopaths like John Moxley. But you’ve never faced someone like me.” His promo is interrupted by Impact World Champion Kenny Omega, accompanied by Don Callis. Callis, who operates as Omega’s mouthpiece in Impact, puts himself between both men and begins to talk down to Moose, saying that he is an “incredible athlete. Maybe the most physically talented guy in all of professional wrestling.” But then goes on to say, “Moose, there is nothing sadder on this earth than wasted talent. Your problem is that you have all the talent and none of the results. You couldn’t even win a title in Ring Of Honor.”
Omega then takes the mic from Callis to say, “No matter how talented you are, what a gifted athlete you are all it takes is one One-Winged Angel for me to turn your lights out.”
The Good Brothers then come down to the ring but are chased off by Sami Callihan, who seems to have aligned himself with Moose temporarily.
After the promo, Moose stops Callihan backstage to say that he didn’t need his help to run them off. Sami tells Moose that he wasn’t there to help him. He was there because he can’t stand Omega and The Good Brothers.
Rachel Ellering vs. Jordynne Grace
The former tag team champions-turned-competitors shake hands before locking up. Both women are trading wrestling holds back and forth. This match seems like it will be a much slower and more technical match than the earlier Knockouts contest. Ellering is deceptively strong and seems to be the first woman in a very long time to be able to throw Grace around.
Grace is working as the heel in this match very well, possibly hinting towards a real shift in her character coming soon. When we came back from the commercial we see that Grace has control of the match, striking Ellering in the corner before covering her for a near fall.
The end of the match comes when Jordynne snaps, attacking Ellering without any control, and following a series of nearfalls, Ellering is able to keep Grace’s shoulders on the mat for the three-count.

Then, we see Brian Meyers backstage rehashing his issues with Matt Cardona, who happens to walk by, leading Meyers to attack Cardona. Their fight is preempted for the main event of the evening.
Ace Austin and Madman Fulton vs. FinnJuice for Impact World Tag Team Championships
The supposed end of this match seems a bit telegraphed when you consider that FinnJuice gave a promo saying that they would be defending the titles in Japan and when you consider that Kojima is coming to Impact next week, but Ace Austin and Madman Fulton are doing their best to make sure it doesn’t feel like a done deal. Fulton and Austin make a great team and have fantastic chemistry with one another. I could see them having a long run with the titles someday. But today is not that day.
Even though they put up a hell of a fight against the champions a bit of hubris from Ace Austin and Mad Man Fulton left them open for a loss.

Following the match, Violent By Design enter the ring to stare down the champions. Cashing in their Call Your Shot trophy to challenge FinnJuice for their titles. Rhino and Joe Doering represent Violent By Design and make short work of the exhausted FinnJuice to take the titles off of the New Japan Pro Wrestling competitors!
