Wrestling Rumor Roundup: John Cena return, WWE under pressure
By Amit Shukla
The wrestling business is all fiction, but that doesn’t stop everyone from trying to find the news around it. While some information makes it to the rumor section of this article and the world, but need not come to life, while some others may be true as John Cena’s 16-time World Championship win. The future Hall of Famer was in the news this week, but he wasn’t the only one to make it to the news section.
WWE also came under fire, or should we say pressure, as it decided to go back to city tour once fans start coming to the shows. Did WWE deliberately do it, or was it under some peer pressure, or should we say investment pressure. So without further ado, let’s get down to it:
WWE Universal Championship was in the main event for a reason
WWE knows that they have hit gold with Roman Reigns’ new persona and want to cash in on it. The rumor mill suggests that there were talks about the WWE Championship being in the main event as it was a triple-threat match, and going by the performance, it was one of the best matches of the show. So what inspired WWE to let the WWE Universal Championship match involving Roman Reigns and first-time main-eventer Cesaro be in the main event?
It turns out that Vince and Co. are putting their faith and all creative powers to push Roman Reigns as a legit heel. WWE Universe will be a part of the stadium and at ringside soon, so they need to keep this character up, and the best way to do so is by putting him in the main event. The first and last match of any show keeps the fans glued to the TV, and this was an attempt to sell Roman Reigns’ Tribal Chief persona to the fans so that when they return, they would feel the persona up, close and personal.
