WWE SummerSlam set for Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas
WWE announced the location of SummerSlam via a press release on Saturday. The event will take place on Saturday, August 21st from Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas. This will be the first time the annual event will be held at a major NFL stadium.
As the WWE continues to transition back into events with live fans, SummerSlam is expected to be the biggest showcase with fans in attendance since the COVID-19 pandemic shut down much of the professional wrestling industry. Allegiant Stadium is the home of the Las Vegas Raiders. Tickets are set to go on sale Friday, June 18.
There are several interesting wrinkles with this event going on that date. First, boxing star Manny Pacquiao is scheduled to fight Errol Spence Jr in what is a highly anticipated contest. They are fighting in the very same city on the same night.
Second, there has been continued rumbling that the WWE is interested in having hip hop celebrity Cardi B appear as the special guest host. On June 1st, the company released a promotional video for SummerSlam using Cardi B’s recent single release “Up” while showing multiple stars such as Charlotte Flair, Roman Reigns, and Bianca Belair. Cardi B would be a highly popular personality to bring to the show coming off the successful transition with Bad Bunny through WrestleMania season earlier this year.
WWE SummerSlam will be available only on the WWE Network via the Peacock streaming service. For more news about the WWE, SummerSlam, and all things professional wrestling, stick with Daily DDT.
