On the May 12th episode of AEW Dynamite, one of the best tag teams in professional wrestling run came to an end when The Young Bucks defeated SCU in a classic tag team match. A story-driven match filled with drama and emotion was the best way for SCU to end. So Cal Uncensored went all out for their final match together. Kaz and Daniels both wrestled with their heart, and the legacy of SCU will always be remembered.

Christopher Daniels made his professional wrestling debut in the Illinois wrestling scene in 1993 and spent the 90s and early 2000s making appearances in WCW, WWE, and ECW. When he made his debut in Ring of Honor and TNA Wrestling, the world started to see Daniels could be a major player. In this article, I will be discussing the five best Christopher Daniels matches.

Triple X vs. America’s Most Wanted, TNA Turning Point (2004)

This was the end of a long-term tag team feud that helped put TNA wrestling on the map. The team Triple X and America Most Wanted put together a 20-minute tag team classic match. The stipulation was that the losing team had to disband, which made the stakes even higher. This was a match between the two best tag teams in TNA wrestling at the time battling it out in a bloody match.

This is also the match that features the greatest moment in TNA history: Elix skipper walking the top of the cage and delivering a jaw-dropping hurricanrana, followed by an elbow drop off the cage by Daniels. Triple X would lose this match, but this match would be the beginning of fans seeing Daniels as a top wrestler in the world.

Christopher Daniels vs. AJ Styles, TNA Against All Odds 2005

The Styles and Daniels match at Bound for Glory is one of my favorite wrestling matches to watch, but their TNA Against All Odds 2005 match is one of the greatest matches in TNA history. The announcers of the match Mike Tenay and Don West did a great job of building this match up and making it a big deal. This match was the first time that AJ Styles and Daniels would face each other in TNA.

It has become known that AJ Styles makes whoever he’s in the ring with look better, but in this match, Daniels made AJ look like a star in the ring. Christopher Daniels lost this match when Commissioner Dusty Rhodes restarted the match, and AJ found the energy to win.

The Addiction vs. Motor City Machine Guns vs. The Young Bucks, (ROH)

This match was the beginning of Daniels’s hunt to becoming a world champion. The storyline for this match was that Daniels was at a rough place in his professional wrestling career after 20 years. This will go down as one of the greatest ladder matches of all time because it showed the three best tag teams globally, proving why they all are considered the best.

American Dragon Vs. Christopher Daniels Vs. Low Ki (ROH)

The First-ever Ring of Honor event featured future stars that would help push the professional wrestling industry. The main event would be Daniels vs. Low Ki vs. Bryan Danielson in a three-way dance match. This match would be a 20- minute fast pace and hard-hitting match in the top matches of 2002. This match set the bar for ROH because it showed another wrestling company prepared to make waves in an industry that had just lost ECW and WCW. Christopher Daniels was ROH MVP in the earlier years.

Christopher Daniels vs. AJ Styles vs. Samoa Joe TNA Unbreakable 2005

When done right professional wrestling can make people laugh, cry, sad and happy. When it comes to the TNA Unbreakable three-way match between Daniels, Styles, and Joe, this match had fans’ attention from the beginning to the end. Daniels didn’t need to win this match because this match was used to show that TNA wrestling was different than the WWE and that they wanted to create their own stars, which they did.

Christopher Daniels was always a great professional wrestler, but in this match, he was able to help make AJ and Joe look good while also being able to tell a story in the ring. Daniels at this time was the longest-reigning X Division Champion in the company’s history. When people go back and look at this match, they should look up the TNA 2005 roster to see how deep the talent pool was. TNA wrestling had some of the best wrestlers in the world. However, over the next couple of years, TNA would become filled with ex WCW,WWE and ECW wrestlers that shouldn’t have been in the spotlight. TNA wrestling only had one Wrestling Observer five-star rated match in its history, and it was the three-way between Daniels, Styles, and Joe, and these were the wrestlers who TNA should have built the company around.
