With this episode of Impact Wrestlingbeing the final one before the Against All Oddsshow, the main show will feature six matches, with a no disqualification match between W. Morrissey and Willie Mack.

Before the Impact: Deaner vs. Crazzy Steve

Deaner and Crazzy Steve have made some dramatic shifts in recent months and years, starting with Steve’s return to the promotion and alignment with Black Taurus and Rosemary to Deaner’s break away from his redneck family to focus on his violent side, joining the ranks of Violent by Design under the tutelage of his trainer, Eric Young.

This match is clearly taking place between two guys who spent hours in the ring working together and learning under the same tree. The immediate chemistry between them while never breaking character is equal parts palpable and impressive.

Both men are flanked by their factions but the contest focuses on the two individuals in the ring more so than those outside of it. The story is allowed to unfold slowly with both men searching for the upper hand. Deaner is the first to get that upper hand, keeping the pressure on Steve and not allowing him to collect himself and tap into that darker side of his personality.

Steve thrives on adversity and uncertainty, however, and manages to pick up the win over Deaner.

Scott D’Amore opens Impact by speaking with Tony Khan in the ring before announcing a massive match at Against All Odds. They are interrupted by Don Callis, who has taken to calling himself “The Invisible Hand” of pro wrestling. Callis uses his time to remind Khan that he should be interested in protecting his investment and making sure that Kenny Omega has his best opportunity to be the best brand ambassador he can be, and that adding Sami Callihan to the match would not only be detrimental to All Elite Wrestling but to Impact and the world of wrestling as a whole.

D’Amore and Khan agree that the Impact World Heavyweight Championship match will be between Omega and MOOSE, one on one. They will also be holding the match live from Daily’s Place in Jacksonville, Fla. The rest of the event will take place from the Impact Zone in Nashville, Tenn. Don is elated before being interrupted by D’Amore, who says that Callihan will get a chance at the Impact World Heavyweight Championship at Slammiversary.

After the in-ring promo, we see Don Callis speaking to The Good Brothers and Kenny Omega about handling Callihan and making him disappear before Slammiversary. D’Amore comes in and says that in order to keep the Good Brothers occupied on Saturday night they will have a Street Fight Tag Team match against Callihan and a partner of his choosing in Nashville so that they cannot get involved in the match in Jacksonville.

When we come back from the break, we see Brian Myers leading Promo Class with Sam Beale. Saying “A promo is a match, and a match is a promo”. Beale is giving a decent promo and is interrupted by Myers saying how awful the promo is before walking away angrily.

After the segment, we see D’Amore and Callihan arguing about if he will actually need a tag team partner. Tommy Dreamer enters saying that he will be Callihan’s partner because the enemy of his enemy is his friend. D’Amore chastises Dreamer for calling Callis his enemy and says that Callis is not the enemy.

Rosemary vs. Havok

Rosemary and Havok have a very Rosemary and Havok match. This isn’t to say that it isn’t good, but it is something that we have seen a lot before. Rosemary came out full force at the start, spearing Havok several times before the match went into the commercial break. When we return, Havok is in control, maintaining wrist control of Rosemary and whipping her into her shoulder over and over again. Rosemary seems to thrive on the pain, reversing Havok’s hold on her for a quick pin, ensuring that her challenge at Against All Odds will be a singles contest for the Knockouts Title.

After the match, Kimber Lee, Susan, and Deonna Purrazzo attack Havok and Rosemary before Susan challenges Tasha Steelz to a match on behalf of Kimber Lee.

Kimber Lee vs. Tasha Steelz

Tasha Steelz is the future and I will hear no slander against her name.  She is one of the most talented young wrestlers that Impact Wrestling has brought in in recent years alongside Jordynne Grace and Kiera Hogan. All Elite Wrestling would benefit greatly from bringing all three of the women into the promotion, similar to the deal they worked out with the NWA last year. The Knockouts division continues to be a bright spot on Thursday nights. This match is no different. Both of these women are incredibly talented and spend most of the match looking for the one big move to secure the victory. This happens for Steelz, as she is able to tie a side suplex into a pinning attempt for the three-count and the victory.

After the match, Kimber Lee, Susan, and Deonna Purrazzo attempt to beat down both Tasha Steelz and Kiera Hogan but are chased out of the ring by Rosemary and Havok who then beat down all the women in the ring so that they are the only ones standing.

After the match, we see a vignette for a wrestler named Maclin who says that they have lived their life with their back against the wall. They also warn that either they will meet Mayhem or we will.

Petey Williams & Trey Miguel vs. Rohit Raju & Chris Bey

These four guys are insane. Let’s get that established right off the bat. All four of these guys are incredibly talented. I will never get why Trey Miguel wasn’t brought to NXT with Dez and Wentz but am so thankful that we still get to see his talents on Thursday nights. Chris Bey was legitimately one of the hottest free agents in the world of professional wrestling not that long ago and it is clear why during this match. Raju is probably the most in need of carrying in this tag match and even that is minimal compared to where he was a year ago as part of the Desi Hit Squad.

The biggest selling point of this match for me is that for nearly its entirety, it is unclear who has the upper hand, and I didn’t care. I was just having so much fun watching these four incredibly talented athletes work with one another. Miguel and Williams are able to get the upper hand, pinning Rohit for the victory.

After the match, Mad Man Fulton and Ace Austin rush the ring and attack Petey and Trey, beating them down before all four competitors come together to beat them back with the help of Josh Alexander. The attack culminates with an Ultimate Destroyer from Miguel, Bey, and Williams.

There is then a backstage promo from Willie Mack and Rich Swann talking about how they can’t wait to get a hand on W. Morrissey. Mack’s match is taking place tonight while Swann will get him on Saturday at Against All Odds.

After the break, we get an episode of All About Me where Tenille Dashwood is interviewed by a different host every week. This week’s host is Rachel Ellering accompanied by Jordynne Grace. Ellering defends Grace over the course of the interview, diffusing Dashwood’s attempts to insert herself in their friendship and team dynamic. The segment ends with Grace storming off to make a match at Against All Odds for herself and Tennille.

We get another Violent By Design promo ahead of Joe Doering’s match tonight with Eddie Edwards. Eric Young then turns his attention to Kojima and his match with Doering at Against All Odds, claiming that he will take all of Kojima’s talents and use them against him.

Joe Doering vs. Eddie Edwards

This was the perfect Joe Doering match. Slow and methodical and with a wrestler comfortable with his incredibly snug style. This match made him look like a million bucks. Unfortunately for Doehring, his stablemates couldn’t help but get involved in the match, resulting in his disqualification. The members of Violent By Design then enter the ring and begin to beat down Edwards before Kojima makes his way to the ring to help Edwards chase away the evil faction.

W. Morrissey vs. Willie Mack: No DQ Match

Morrissey and Mack have been circling one another for weeks leading to this matchup, and with Mack forcing his best friend and tag partner, Rich Swann, to promise to stay in the back, he feels he finally has the opportunity to even the score with the large newcomer to Impact Wrestling.

Morrissey is in control to start the match and into the first commercial break. After the break, Mack seems to have gotten his feet underneath him and is bringing the aggression to Morrissey. At one point, Mack even comes after him with a chain and a steel chair.

Morrissey is using this match to showcase his new and terrifying persona, at one point wrapping a chain around the eyes and face of Mack and tying him up in the ropes with it. Conversely, Mack used this match to showcase just how insanely talented he is, which he punctuated by slamming the much larger man before delivering his patented standing moonsault to Morrissey. Unfortunately, his moonsault wasn’t enough at the end of the day, with Morrissey picking up the victory.

After the match, Morrissey drags Mack into the corner and sets up a chair against his jaw and chest. He looks to take a running start into the chair before Rich Swann enters the ring to fight him off.

Security enters to separate them before Morrissey is able to break through the ranks to attack Swann again. Rich is able to get his hands on a chair though and tees off on Morrissey’s back forcing him to exit the ring. The episode ends with both men staring each other down as we receive another promo for Against All Odds on Saturday night.
