What’s next for Asuka?

This week’s edition of Monday Night Raw featured a tag team match between the team of Asuka & Nikki Cross vs. Charlotte Flair & current WWE Raw Women’s Champion, Rhea Ripley. Asuka & Cross picked up the W after Flair hit the Natural Selection on her tag team partner/opponent at Hell in a Cell, Rhea Ripley.

If you read the title of this post, you probably have an idea of what it’s about, and more than likely, you’re under the assumption that it’s the usual reporter/writer mumbo jumbo. You know what I’m talking about. The shtick where your favorite wrestling writer asks a question that’s seemingly obvious, but you’re still interested because it’s an interesting question or you’re a huge fan of the wrestler.

Well… chances are I’m probably not your favorite writer. You are here, though. So that counts for something, right?

Anyway, for some… (noobs), the answer to my question is a rather easy one: Asuka was featured on Raw this week and she teamed with Nikki Cross to take on the team of Flair & Ripley. Therefore, Cross & Asuka are now a tag team.

More from WWE

Yes, I get that the team of Cross & Asuka could be a possibility for the foreseeable future. But still, that’s not always the case in the world of wrestling and I have to wonder what WWE has planned for The Empress of Tomorrow in the long run?

Unfournutnly for female talent, they usually have a shorter shelf life than their male counterparts. For those who don’t know, Asuka is 39 at the time of me writing this.

Now if someone like Chris Jericho, AJ Styles, or Bobby Lashley was still 39 years of age, this could still possibly be considered their prime.

When taking a look back at the careers of WWE Hall of Famers Trish Stratus, Lita, and Molly Holly; they retired well before the age of 39.

So, after reading that extended introduction, I still wonder/kinda, sorta worry about what’s next for one of my favorite superstars on the WWE roster.

Going Back To NXT for a stint might not be a terrible idea. From her undefeated streak in NXT during her initial run with the brand to her reigns as both Smackdown & Raw Women’s Champion, Asuka has become a household name in the WWE.

This may be a good time for Asuka to help out some talent in NXT.

Please don’t get this confused. It’s not me writing Asuka off as some washed-up old fart, who’s seen her best days.

Next. WWE: A strategy to consolidate the WWE roster. dark

On the contrary, I feel like she has a lot more left in the tank. But she’s a veteran and her giving the rub to some new up-and-coming talent would certainly give them some credibility.

And if that idea doesn’t happen, perhaps she turns heel again. Asuka has been a babyface for quite some time now and a heel turn would certainly give her some new opponents to mix it up in the ring with.
