Bobby Lashley (c) vs. Drew McIntyre [WWE Championship: HIAC]

“If, at first, you don’t succeed, try, try try again.” Drew McIntyre said it all during his contract signing with WWE Champion Bobby Lashley on last week’s WWE Raw. He has been getting title shot after title shot on Raw since he lost the WWE Championship to The Miz in February. In fact, McIntyre has not left the WWE Championship scene since he won the title from Brock Lesnar at WrestleMania 36 last year. Lashley has held the title for 100 days and has only defended the title against two opponents, one of whom is already released from WWE and the other being McIntyre.

Since no other babyface competitor on Raw has been built up to dethrone Lashley, it’s hard to believe that McIntyre won’t win here. McIntyre was originally planned to win back the WWE Championship from Lashley at WrestleMania 37 in order to get the Mania moment in front of the fans that he was not able to fully embrace when he defeated Lesnar at WrestleMania 36. However, plans changed when the majority of fans had tons of support for Lashley as champion and did not want him to lose the title so soon. Now that 100 days have passed, time’s up for Lashley.

Drew McIntyre already lost his first Hell in a Cell match against Randy Orton back in October 2020. He won’t be losing his second against Lashley. As the new face of the WWE, McIntyre will cement his legacy as a three-time WWE Champion. Expect him to win plenty more championships in his long-winded journey and expect to hear plenty of “3…2….1 Claymore” on the road to WWE SummerSlam 2021.
