Many within the professional wrestling struggle with the idea of stepping away when the time is right. Last week, Lio Rush retired due to a lingering injury and on Wednesday ACH announced that he was stepping away from professional wrestling. That is a retirement that caught a lot of people by surprise, but ACH deserves all the love and respect from peers and fans alike that was sent his way.

“No need for dramatic or emotional word play,” ACH posted on Instagram. “As of today, I will officially step away from professional wrestling. Thank you for all of the support and love.”

ACH is a performer that more people should know about. With 14 years of experience, he is performed for some of the biggest organizations in the industry. New Japan Pro Wrestling, Major League Wrestling, Game Changer Wrestling, and plenty others were lucky to have ACH perform in their ring when he did. He also had a run with the WWE that came to a screeching halt in 2019 after accusations of racism surrounding a proposed t-shirt resulted in his release. At the time he talked about not returning to professional wrestling but did so for a moment. He also expressed remorse for how the situation played out. Even though that was a moment that created a lot of content, it should not be the memory that is used to frame ACH’s career.

Applying that logic to professional wrestling and it’s clear that ACH has a catalog of great matches across the best promotions in the industry. He has competed against the likes of Kyle O’Reilly, Adam Page, Jay Lethal, Adam Cole, Jushin Thunder Liger, and others – all of them are matches that are worth searching out by wrestling fans. Matches such as these highlights why so many fans express forlorn at the news of his retirement at 33-years of age.
