AEW Dynamite: Fyter Fest Night Two Preview and Predictions
AEW Dynamite will present night two of Fyter Fest this Wednesday from Garland, Texas.
The first night of Fyter Fest was wildly entertaining. From the moment Jon Moxley‘s music hit to open the show the crowd was electric and the performers fed off that energy and delivered highly entertaining matches and segments for the duration of the broadcast.
The announced match card for night two seems to be a bit less exciting than last week’s show on paper. But AEW is on fire right now, and the smart bet is that Tony Khan and the creative team will have something up their sleeve to make this show every bit as entertaining as night one of Fyter Fest.
Let’s take a look at the announced matches for the AEW Dynamite: Fyter Fest night two and what to expect from each.
Lance Archer vs Jon Moxley for the IWGP U.S. Title in a Texas Death Match
Jon Moxley will put his IWGP U.S. Title on the line for the second week in a row when he defends it against the man that he won it from a year and a half ago when he takes on Lance Archer.
It has to be extremely tempting to let the company’s top babyfaces pick up all the wins just to hear the recently returned fans roar their approval after each match. And a Jon Moxley win here would certainly get one of the loudest pops of the night.
But truth be told, Lance Archer needs this win.
AEW has not been shy when it comes to giving Archer high-profile matches. Archer has challenged for the AEW World title once and has also had two opportunities to win the TNT Title. Archer has come up short all three times.
This feels like the right spot for the “Murderhawk Monster” to pick up that elusive victory.
The style of the match will allow Moxley to take a loss without losing any momentum and at the same time get fans talking about Lance Archer again.
The IWGP U.S. Title will act as a compass for Archer, who at times has struggled to find a direction in AEW. Winner: Lance Archer
Chris Jericho vs Shawn Spears
The five labors of Jericho will begin on Wednesday as Chris Jericho tries to earn himself another match with MJF by completing the challenges that MJF lays out for him.
The first challenge is a match in which Jericho must defeat Shawn Spears. However, MJF also included a stipulation that the use of chairs in this match would be legal for Spears, but not for Jericho.
The outcome of this match is a no-brainer. Jericho losing in stage one of the five labors of Jericho would be some of the worst creative writing of all time.
Spears will inflict some heavy punishment on Le Champion, but in the end, Jericho will defeat Spears, much to the chagrin of MJF.
After the match, an irate MJF will most likely grab the microphone and inform us all of the second labor of Jericho. Which will most likely involve one, or both members of FTR. Winner: Chris Jericho
The Blade vs Orange Cassidy
The Blade and Orange Cassidy will write the next chapter of their recent rivalry when they hook up in a one-on-one match.
This match will more than likely take place with both the Bunny and Kris Statlander at ringside and the women will definitely play a part in its outcome.
The Blade is a capable performer and paired with the Bunny is a dangerous matchup for Orange Cassidy. But when the Butcher returns the Blade will go back into tag team wrestling, where that duo thrives, and Orange Cassidy will continue to make waves as a singles competitor.
So there is absolutely no reason for the Blade to pull off the upset here.
Orange Cassidy has been knocked senseless a couple of times in the past few weeks by the Blade and his brass knuckles.
It seems only fitting the OC will get his hands on the brass knuckles at some point during this matchup and repay the favor, knocking the Blade out cold, and earning the victory.
With Kris Statlander pinning the Bunny the past two weeks and Orange Cassidy getting the win on Wednesday over the Blade, that should effectively end this feud, and allow both pairs to move on to something different in the coming weeks. Winner: Orange Cassidy
Nyla Rose vs Britt Baker for the AEW Women’s World Championship
During the AEW women’s world title eliminator tournament in February, Nyla Rose picked up a semi-finals victory on the U.S. side of the bracket by defeating Britt Baker.
If memory serves, I believe that I may have even written a piece on what a big mistake that was.
Little did I know, that AEW was busy creating the storyline behind Baker’s first title defense while I whined about Baker’s loss to Rose.
Fast forward a number of months and Britt Baker is indeed the AEW Women’s Champion. And her first title defense will take place on Wednesday against the woman that has had her number, the aforementioned Nyla Rose.
Giving credit where it is due, this was a brilliant setup to Baker’s first title defense. How better to show the evolution of a new, young champion, than by having her successfully defend her title against the one person that has always been there to stop her from achieving her goals?
And the continued evolution of Britt Baker is exactly what we will get on Wednesday.
Over the past year, we have seen Baker improve her skills on the microphone and in the ring by leaps and bounds.
Wednesday, Baker will solidify herself as the face of the women’s division by defeating the Native Beast, and (no offense to Hikaru Shida) kick off the most entertaining women’s title run to date in AEW. Winner: Britt Baker
