On April 15, 2021, WWE made its round of talent cuts and the list featured a name that sent shockwaves through the entire WWE Universe. That name is Samoa Joe.

On June 15th, exactly two months after his release from the company, he made his return to NXT. After turning down William Regal’s offer to become the brand’s newest general manager, he would take on the role as a special enforcer and could not lay a hand on any NXT superstar unless he was provoked. After being provoked by a few NXT Superstars, I thought of five dream matches that Samoa Joe should be booked into in the near future.

Adam Cole

While a match with Adam Cole isn’t at the top of my list, it definitely comes in at a close second. Following an altercation between Adam Cole and former tag team partner Kyle O’Reilly on the night of Joe’s return, Adam Cole would shove Samoa Joe out of the way to continue fighting with O’Reilly. Since that technically counted as “provoking” him, Joe would take it upon himself to put Cole in his signature ‘Coquina Clutch‘. After multiple stare downs with one another, Adam Cole would call Samoa Joe out on the July 13th edition of NXT. This should easily set something up between the two going forward.

Bronson Reed

Absolutely no bad blood between the two. But seeing as that Samoa Joe and Bronson Reed are very similar when it comes to their size, this definitely has the potential for a dream match.  If Samoa Joe is ever cleared to make an in-ring return and NXT keeps Bronson reed away from the main roster, a match between the two could be something that’s in the works very soon.

Santos Escobar

While Joe and Escobar have yet to cross paths, the potential this dream match has is through the roof. While Samoa Joe is a veteran and Santos Escobar is one of NXT’s rising stars, you’d be crazy if you didn’t want to see this happen. Despite a decent size difference between them (Escobar being 205 pounds and Joe being 282), these guys could absolutely tear it down. Keep away any outside interference and you’re looking at a potential five-star match between the two.

Pete Dunne

These two have come face to face more than once. Much like Santos Escobar, Pete Dunne weighs 205 pounds which is a significant difference from Samoa Joe. Unless he’s provoked, Joe cannot lay a hand on Dunne. Shockingly, Dunne has not done a thing except stare in the face of Samoa Joe. Pete Dunne has his fair share of “show-stealing” matches and if one ever happened with Samoa Joe, you could easily add that to the ongoing list.

Karrion Kross

Without a doubt on the top of my list of dream matches for Samoa Joe. After making his main roster debut on the July 19th edition of Monday Night RAW, a match between the both them is unfortunately in doubt. During an episode of NXT on July 13th, Kross would provoke Joe in a major way by putting Joe in his signature ‘Kross Jacket‘ submission.

If Kross is in fact moving to the main roster permanently, then a new NXT Champion needs to be crowned. The perfect to write Kross off of NXT is for Samoa Joe to get the upper hand to win the prestigious NXT Championship.
