It is being reported by Wrestling Inc that the WWE is planning the first-ever Queen of the Ring tournament.

Of course, we are familiar with the King of the Ring tournament, but this be the first-ever women’s version of the tournament. The tournament is reportedly scheduled to take place later this year.

Fans have been wondering when we would see another WWE Evolution pay-per-view event, the first-ever all-women’s event. Fans have pushed for another edition of Evolution. Recently released Mickie James has created an all-women’s event to come in NWA.

No further details have yet been revealed, and if it will also feature stars from the women’s division on NXT. The promotion has a very robust women’s division with a number of talented performers that would benefit from being featured in the tournament setting.

WWE Women’s Division booking needs improvement

It has been three years since we saw the first all-women’s pay-per-view and this will be another tick to check off the checklist. The women’s division has been featured in Hell in a Cell matches, Ladder matches, and even main-evented WrestleMania. However, the WWE has come under a lot of criticism for its booking direction, or lack thereof, when it comes to the women’s division across Monday Night Raw and SmackDown.

The tournament will be the first of its kind in the company, and will likely receive a lot of attention as they will look to crown their first-ever Queen of the Ring.
