The highly anticipated match between AEW World Champion, Kenny Omega and Bryan Danielson ended in a draw on AEW Grand Slam.

The non-title match, which was also Bryan’s debut match in AEW, kicked off the special episode live from Arthur Ashe Stadium in Queens, New York. Traditionally a tennis venue, the venue is hosting a pro-wrestling event for the first-ever time.

Two of the best wrestler’s in the world put on a clinic, which was well-received by fans in attendance and fans watching at home. It resulted in the fans chanting ‘fight forever’ as the thirty minute match limit was coming to a close.

Both men brought their A-game, which will no doubt see a rematch later down the line. Omega and Danielson almost got the better of each other to pick up the victory, but they could only manage a number near falls and rope breaks.

In the end, the bell rang and the match ended a draw. Following the conclusion of the match, The Elite came down to protect Kenny Omega and attack Bryan Danielson. This only brought out Christian Cage, Luchasaurus and Jungle Boy to fight them off.

AEW are celebrating four-hours of programming on TNT this week with Dynamite hosting Grand Slam, and Rampage going two-hours for the first-time this Friday.

Kenny Omega vs Bryan Danielson will go down in history

Grand Slam got off to a hot start with Kenny Omega vs Bryan Danielson, which set the tone for the rest of the show. The fans in attendance ate every second of the match up and weren’t for letting their guard down. They chanted, cheered and booed every move and made sure that the match would go down in history. Omega, who was accompanied by Don Callis, and Danielson gave it everything they got, and delivered what can only be described as a pro-wrestling classic. CM Punk even said in his promo following the match that he’s glad he’s not wrestling as he would not be able to follow that. All credit to Omega and Danielson, we already can’t wait for round two.
