Independent standout Darius Lockhart made his debut on AEW Dark against Ricky Starks. They must’ve liked what they saw because he wrestled nine minutes against the FTW Champion. Not only that, but he nearly pinned Starks a couple of times.

Judging by responses and quote tweets from AEW’s accounts and other gif accounts, fans really seemed to like Lockhart. Some used #SignDariusLockhart. He was brought to Rochester to tape a match with QT Marshall on AEW Dark.

It’s Nation Time

Prior to his appearances in AEW, Lockhart got attention with his #ICanFixThat promo. He points out that Ron Killings is the only Black NWA Worlds Heavyweight champion. But, you see, Lockhart can fix that. At the time of the promo, Aldis had been the champion for 1,024 days.

Lockhart asks “what time is it?” (Nation Time). “What does that mean?” (This land is going to change hands.) Sometimes “The Honorable Brother” asks “when we stand together, what time is it?” (Nation Time)

He has held championships in PWX (based in his hometown of Charlotte, NC) and Viral Pro Wrestling in Georgia. He faced Trish Adora along with Mr. Grim in a three-way match to crown the Pan Afrikan Diaspora Wrestling Title last year.

Lockhart can bring the revolution to AEW

While Ricky Starks says “the revolution will be televised,” “Be A Revolutionary” is something Lockhart has touted for several years. In the ring, he will kick his opponents and yell out “Be!” and the crowd responds with “a revolutionary!” This usually happens a few more times. Lockhart is a strong presence in and out of the ring. He carries himself with much dignity.

You see, #BeARevolutionary is not a hashtag or a gimmick. It is a way of life. In speaking with Lockhart over the years, it is clear that he is one of the most authentic people. That’s why he reaches people of all races, sexual orientations, religions, and creeds. In this business, it is hard to find truly genuine people.

Lockhart has appeared on shows such as For The Culture. He is making his way to Texas in the near future. One of the most buzzed-about matches he has coming up is against new AEW signee, Lee Moriarty.

Next. Lio Rush has all the tools for a main event run in AEW. dark

Like Moriarty, Lockhart has a strong technical prowess. However, their styles differ enough for them to be on the same roster. Lockhart has faced wrestlers such as MJF, Myron Reed, Shane Taylor, Serpentico, and Brian Pillman, Jr. He can easily fit in with various styles found within the AEW roster. If you go to his YouTube page, you will find that he can cut a promo with the best of them.

While AEW needs a more inclusive roster, signing Lockhart would not simply be a “diversity hire”. He would be someone that is a top wrestler on the independent scene. Additionally, he is one of the promos in the business today. There is no one like him in AEW and they would be missing out on something special if they pass on “The Intergalactic Soul”.
