There’s been a lot of news coverage around the relaunch of Women of Wrestling, who the promotion signed, and attempted to add to the roster. While much of the attention was placed on bad actors, there was some related good news as La Rosa Negra made an appearance on the latest taping of AEW Dark.

News broke on Sunday that La Rosa Negra competed against Skye Blue in a match on AEW Dark. Dark and Dark Elevation are two platforms AEW frequently uses to work with new talent that may be eventually signed to the promotion, such as Kiera Hogan, Lee Moriarty, and Blue herself.

The reason it’s important to recognize La Rosa Negra’s participation on AEW Dark links back to the controversy surrounding Tessa Blanchard. In 2020, news broke that Blanchard was accused of many different acts of bullying and harassment during her time in wrestling. One of the biggest accusations came when multiple individuals spoke up about Blanchard calling a performer the “N-Word” and spitting on her. That individual was La Rosa Negra.

Blanchard has yet to publicly apologize for the matter. In fact, the promotion around her return to WOW leans into her poor behavior, generating a negative response for her involvement and WOW as a promotion.

La Rosa Negra has been a part of the wrestling industry for 18 years. During that time, she’s participated in some of the top independent promotions such as SHINE, NWA, and others. Many names across professional wrestling shouted out her appearance on AEW Dark.

“Since the internet had this out, I’m beyond proud of you my sister,” Thunder Rosa posted on Twitter. “They don’t know the STRUGGLE, SACRIFICE, AND HARDSHIP YOU WENT THROUGH. No matter what happens from TODAY ON, you are a WINNER because you never gave up! I love you.”
