AEW Dynamite: Preview and Predictions for December 1st, 2021
AEW Dynamite is back this Wednesday with a show that will feature some of the most talented men and women in the promotion. The episode will be broadcast from Duluth, Georgia, and should be main-evented by the Atlanta Street Fight involving hometown boy, Cody Rhodes, and Andrade El Idolo.
The card will also feature the final quarterfinal matchup in the TBS Women’s Title Tournament between two of the more popular women in AEW when Ruby Soho takes on Kris Statlander.
And in what is always a treat we will get the honor of watching Sting wrestle again on live television when he and Darby Allin meet up with the Gunn Club.
Bryan Danielson will attempt to continue his march through the Dark Order and towards “Hangman” Adam Page when he battles Alan “5” Angels.
And after the face-to-face showdown on the microphone that had the wrestling world talking, will MJF and CM Punk write the next chapter in their rivalry at some point in the broadcast?
One thing is for sure, this episode of Dynamite is set up to be another great two hours of professional wrestling.
Let’s take a look at what to expect from the announced matches for this week’s episode of AEW Dynamite.
Gunn Club vs Sting & Darby Allin
In a match that is being touted as a battle between two undefeated teams, Billy and Colton Gunn will take on Sting and Darby Allin.
The Gunn Club, while on an impressive winning streak, has picked up the majority of their wins on AEW Dark and Elevation over enhancement talent.
So seeing them elevated to Dynamite to challenge Sting and Darby Allin, who hold tag team match wins over FTR, The Men of the Year, and Team Tazz is a bit of a surprise.
And while it is a huge step up for the Gunn Club, it is the same size step back for Allin and Sting.
Not to take anything away from the Gunn Club, Billy is a legend of the sport and Colton has a world of potential.
But this just feels like something for Sting and Darby Allin to do until their next big program comes along. Winners: Sting & Darby Allin
Bryan Danielson vs Alan “5” Angels
While there wasn’t much doubt about how good the future matchup between Adam Page and Bryan Danielson would be, it has been a pleasant surprise how good the buildup to that future match has been.
Some have questioned whether the change in attitude and demeanor in Bryan Danielson was the right move. But over the past two weeks, he has absolutely proven that it works.
Danielson is one of those rare competitors that is just as effective in a babyface role as he is in a heel role and he has taken what was going to be a great match and added a ton of heat and intensity to it.
And that is always a good thing.
Expect Danielson to be at his most brutal when picks up yet another win over another Dark Order member, this time in the form of Alan “5” Angels. Winner: Bryan Danielson
Kris Statlander vs Ruby Soho in a TBS Women’s Title Tournament Match
In one of the most interesting matchups of the TBS Women’s Title Tournament to date, Ruby Soho will go one-on-one with Kris Statlander.
This tournament has been really good in the fact that any of the five women left in the tournament would be perfectly fine choices as the first-ever TBS Women’s Champion.
The winner of this match has a very formidable challenge waiting for them in the form of Nyla Rose.
And while one could certainly make the case that Statlander’s time has come, AEW didn’t bring Ruby Soho into the promotion to be just another mid-card contender.
This match should be given a good chunk of time on Dynamite as both of these competitors are capable of putting together great matches and should be given ample time to showcase those skills.
Kris Statlander’s time will come, sooner rather than later, but Ruby Soho seems like the right choice to take down Statlander and move on to face Nyla Rose in the semifinals. Winner: Ruby Soho
Cody Rhodes vs Andrade El Idolo in an Atlanta Street Fight
The tension between Cody Rhodes and Andrade El Idolo will reach a boiling point as the two will look to settle their differences once and for all in an Atlanta Street Fight.
This match is interesting for a number of reasons.
It is no secret that Cody Rhodes has been receiving a negative crowd reaction as of late, but the Atlanta area is Cody’s home, and it is a place that normally is squarely in his corner. So what exactly the Atlanta-area crowd reaction is to Rhodes will be fascinating.
On top of that, the style of this match lends itself to be a wild affair, that will surely include more than just Cody and Andrade.
It is all but guaranteed that Malakai Black, Pac, FTR, and maybe even the Lucha Bros play a part in this match at some point.
The build AEW seems to be heading towards is an eventual showdown between Cody Rhodes and Pac as throughout this program it has been impossible to ignore the tension that has been brewing between these two competitors.
So the best guess to the outcome of this match is that Pac “accidentally” hits Cody, costing him the match, and setting up a showdown between the two at the “Winter is Coming” episode of Dynamite in a couple of weeks where Cody will complete his heel turn. Winner: Andrade El Idolo
