King Woods (w/Sir Kingston) vs. Jey Uso (w/Jimmy Uso) [Grudge Match]

Result: King Woods defeated Jey Uso (via DQ)

King Woods announced the return of Sir Kingston, who supported Woods at ringside. Woods started the match off hot with some knife edge chops to Jey Uso. He was on the verge of finishing Uso with his finishing maneuver, but Jimmy Uso attacked Woods to force a disqualification. Kofi Kingston ran to the rescue with Trouble in Paradise to Jimmy Uso. He then helped Woods deliver the Unicorn Stampede Stomps to Jey Uso to get the Usos out of the ring.

Analysis: This match was eminently brief and quite frankly a waste of time since it ended in a disqualification. However, it seems that the direction here is a future SmackDown Tag Title match between Usos and The New Day Part 10000000 at Day 1. After the match, Charlotte cut a generic promo, in which she taught everyone Scott Steiner Math in order to convey how and why Toni Storm does not deserve a title shot. After that promo, Toni Storm threw a pie in Charlotte’s face as payback for last week.

Cesaro vs. Sheamus [Grudge Match]

Result: Sheamus defeated Cesaro (via pinfall)

Rating: 3.5/5.0 Stars

Grade: B-

Cesaro got the upper hand early in this match with European uppercuts and attempted Neutralizers. He also added a bit to his history with Sheamus by screaming at him that they were best friends. However, Sheamus retaliated by countering the Neutralizer and delivering the Brogue Kick for the pinfall and the victory.

Analysis: Cesaro and Sheamus had a solid match. After the match, Sonya Deville accepted Naomi’s challenge for next week on SmackDown. On a further note, why is Sonya Deville being booked as a racist? That’s disgusting.

Roman Reigns (c) vs. Sami Zayn [Universal Championship]

Result: Roman Reigns retained the Universal Championship against Sami Zayn (via submission)

Grade: F

Brock Lesnar took Sami Zayn to Suplex City and F-5’d him before the title match. Roman Reigns picked up the scraps with a Spear and Guillotine Chokehold to Sami Zayn for the submission victory. The Paul Heyman Guys were on the same page tonight before their title match at Day 1. WWE really wasted 30 minutes of this show with a plethora of commercial breaks to maintain the suspense of this title match between Reigns and Zayn, and the match ended up being shorter than all of the matches on this show. Pathetic.

Analysis: This show is an absolute dumpster fire. All the money in the world can’t save this egregious show. Long term booking does not exist. New stars were not made. This show had a hot start but did not follow through with a satisfying finish. Furthermore, Sami Zayn should go to AEW with Kevin Owens once their contracts expire in January.
