AEW Dynamite: Preview and Predictions for December 8th, 2021
AEW Dynamite is back this Wednesday and will be broadcast live from the USB Arena in Elmont, New York.
This week’s episode will feature a number of matches with interesting storylines tied to them, including Bryan Danielson‘s quest to become the fifth ever AEW World Champion. “The American Dragon” will continue to work his way through the Dark Order before his title shot against Adam Page at the Winter Is Coming episode of Dynamite next week.
Britt Baker will look to stop the momentum of the latest challenger to her AEW Women’s Title when she sends her muscle, Jamie Hayter to the ring against Riho.
We will have the third installment of the Dynamite Diamond Battle Royale in which MJF will attempt to go three for three in winning this event. If this match follows the same direction as years past the final two left in the Battle Royale will face off one-on-one the following week to see who wins the Diamond Ring.
And for the first time since their brutal match at Full Gear, the Young Bucks will be back in the ring as they take on members of Chaos, Rocky Romero, and Chuck Taylor.
Let’s take a look at what we can expect from the announced matches on this week’s AEW Dynamite:
Bryan Danielson vs John Silver
In his final tune-up match before getting his shot at the AEW World Title held by “Hangman” Adam Page, Bryan Danielson will take on arguably the most talented and most popular member of the Dark Order when he goes to battle with John Silver.
As in past weeks, the outcome of the Bryan Danielson versus any member of the Dark Order match is a foregone conclusion.
This match is all about doing two things, furthering the hostilities between Danielson and Page and getting hometown boy, John Silver a chance to shine on a big stage against a world-class opponent.
Both of those things will most definitely happen. And Danielson will go into his title shot with a zero still firmly in his AEW loss column. Winner: Bryan Danielson
Young Bucks vs Chuck Taylor and Rocky Romero
It has been a while since we have seen the Young Bucks in the ring on Dynamite. But the wait will come to an end this Wednesday when the brothers Jackson take on Rocky Romero and Chuck Taylor of Chaos.
Chuck Taylor has been a classic example of someone who just can’t seem to find a place since the injury to his tag team partner, Trent?.
The injury came at a really bad time for the duo as the Best Friends were a hot commodity in AEW’s loaded tag team division and there were talks that they may even be the next tag team champions.
So it is nice to see Chuck get this spot with veteran Rocky Romero against the Young Bucks. Taylor and Romero will give them all that they can handle, but in the end, as they usually do in tag team competition, the Young Bucks will reign supreme. Winners: The Young Bucks
Jamie Hayter vs Riho
The first-ever AEW Women’s World Champion, Riho earned a shot at that same title against current champion Britt Baker via an upset win over Baker on the Black Friday episode of Rampage.
In an attempt to soften Riho up, Baker will send her enforcer into a match with Riho hoping that Jamie Hayter will be able to do enough damage to delay Baker’s date with Riho indefinitely.
Hayter and Baker have not been on the same page recently. And despite Baker’s claims that Team DMD is united, Hayter’s sideways glances, eye rolls, and refusal to do the DMD catchphrase with the team to conclude interviews tells a different story.
There is no way that Riho loses in this spot as it would kill her momentum and any take away a lot of shine off of a match with Baker that actually has some intrigue.
However, this program with Team DMD seems to be heading towards Hayter and Baker squaring off in the not-so-distant future. So it is important to keep Hayter strong in defeat in this match.
Look for Baker to try to cheap-shot Riho, but it backfires, costing Hayter the match and furthering the divide between Baker and Hayter. Winner: Riho
Dynamite Diamond Battle Royale
While no official field has been announced for this match, we can safely assume that Ricky Starks, Powerhouse Hobbs, Dante Martin, Lio Rush, and MJF are in. And if MJF is in then you can bet that either Wardlow, Shawn Spears, or both will be in as well.
The way this has match has worked in past years is the Battle Royale ends with two participants left in the ring, and they meet in a traditional one-on-one match the following week, with the winner earning the diamond ring.
AEW can go a lot of different ways with this.
CM Punk could be part of the field and he and MJF could be the final two left in the ring, accelerating their program into a match in one week’s time at the Winter is Coming show.
Or will this be the spot where Wardlow breaks away from MJF and goes after the ring himself?
Or is Dante Martin’s sudden and out of the blue turn on Lio Rush and alliance with Team Tazz all a ruse that will leave Team Tazz super-confident with a three on one advantage at the end of this match, just to see Dante Martin join back up with Rush and eliminate the Team Tazz members?
It is really hard to say how this will play out, especially when we really only know who half the field will be.
Let’s say that CM Punk is a part of the field and he and MJF end up brawling, as they both fall over the top rope and letting the focus of this Battle Royale shift to the Team Tazz versus Lio Rush storyline.
This is a great spot to further elevate Dante Martin. Martin will turn on Team Tazz and help Lio Rush eliminate Hobbs and Starks, setting up what will be an absolutely stellar matchup one-on-one next week between Dante Martin and Lio Rush. Winners: Dante Martin and Lio Rush
