Matt Hardy gives update on Jeff Hardy following his release
On Monday night, Matt and Reby Hardy hosted the House Hardy Twitch channel. Earlier in the afternoon, Matt posted a picture of himself with his sons and his brother, Jeff Hardy. He teased for fans to tune into his Twitch stream to find out why the picture of ALL the Hardy Boyz was taken.
Matt was on his way home from Long Island when he got a call from Jeff. Jeff told him WWE was releasing him and went into detail about the situation that had occurred the previous weekend. Jeff wanted Matt to hear it directly from him.
Over the weekend, Matt was planning to film a #MattFact for Twitch when he had the idea to involve Jeff. In a video that was aired, Matt did a promo saying that he was the “architect of The Hardy Boyz”. Jeff is seen listening to headphones. He tells Matt that he was listening to “Release Me” by Wilson Phillips. Matt included a new fact: “Matt loves Brother Nero.”
Jeff read a series of dates to see him performing live. He will also do meet and greets at these shows. The shows begin on December 16 in Milwaukee, Wisconsin.
When discussing filming over the weekend, Matt noted that they still have a lot of chemistry when working together. Matt said that Jim Ross once said that, “Matt is the steak and Jeff is the sizzle.” Matt said that they’re different singles wrestlers and that Jeff is one of the “most popular wrestlers in the history of this industry”.
Now that Jeff is no longer working for “the dastardly MeekMahon”, he can appear on Twitch. Matt thinks that Jeff would love to stop by and say “hello”. Later, Matt said that he wanted to give Reby credit for her idea for Jeff on Twitch. She thinks that Jeff should stream his art while letting his music play in the background. She also suggested that Jeff give away the art he paints on stream. Matt mentioned that Jeff asked him about Cameo and he may end up on that platform.
Matt addressed his tweet about having all the facts first. He said it wasn’t about the situation with Jeff, but just a general statement. He also addressed their past addictions but stated that neither have those issues now. He was very worried for his brother in 2003. In 2019, Jeff did go to rehab for alcohol, and that helped him a lot. Matt said this “has been the best version of himself” for the last two years.
He criticized WWE for the addiction storylines they had Jeff do on several occasions. He said that’s the last thing, someone, in recovery needs. As for the details of what happened on the house show, that’s for Jeff to address. Matt tells the fans that Jeff will talk about it when he’s ready to. He went on to say that WWE did drug test Jeff and “to wait ’til you hear the results of that and when that comes back clean, hopefully, people will feel better about it. I feel very good about Jeff, I feel confident about Jeff.”
He understands WWE’s stance due to Jeff’s past problems. Jeff didn’t feel like he needed rehab and Matt agrees. Matt stresses that he is grateful for everything WWE has done for his career. He goes on to say that WWE is a tough place to work for and that they have a lot of restrictions. “You have to be so mentally strong to work there. You’re on a very grueling schedule. Sometimes those perimeters you work within in WWE can be very overwhelming.”
Matt talks about how his family is first and foremost and then Jeff has been at that point for the last year and a half. He compliments Jeff for being a good dad and credits his wife for helping him stay on the right path. The most important fact is that he wants “him to be healthy and happy.” “…I feel like he is at a point where he is both. Jeff is going to be fine and he’s going to be good.”
“What the future holds for Jeff Hardy, we shall see.”
