Tonight’s AEW Dynamite comes from right outside Dallas, Texas, and is the yearly special, Winter Is Coming. Tonight’s show is headlined by a number of big matches with the biggest being Bryan Danielson challenging Hangman Adam Page for the AEW World Championship. To much of everyone’s surprise, this is the opening match of the show.

AEW World Championship Match: Hangman Page (c) vs Bryan Danielson

The match starts off with a staredown between the two men. This leads to a feeling-out process between the two men. They exchanged holds and both tried to get the early advantage. Danielson was playing a lot of heel tactics during the beginning of this match, such as doing jumping jacks in the corner to mess with Page.

The match featured a lot of good back and forth between the two men in the early going. However, Danielson being the world-class wrestler that he is, was able to subdue Page with a mixture of his submission moves and gain the upper hand. From this moment on, this match was all Danielson. Danielson punished the mid-section of Page for the majority of the match.

Page was able to fight back in it and show some offense of his own, including a suicide dive onto Danielson outside of the ring, followed by a moonsault from the top turnbuckle by Page onto Danielson outside the ring. This was an insanely cool spot.

The two fought more inside the ring. Page went to the top turnbuckle to try and jump on Danielson and Danielson went up behind him and pushed him onto the ring apron where Page landed and grabbed his shoulder. Danielson then attacked him on the outside of the ring, busting Page’s head open and causing him to bleed.

AEW then cut to commercial break where you can see in the picture and picture the doctors tending to Page outside of the ring. Offering him water as the blood comes pouring out of his head. Page looked out of it for a little while as well during the commercial break. However, he was able to continue on, so hopefully, it was nothing serious.

Danielson targeted the head of Page when he got back in the ring, making Page bleed even more. Danielson targeted Page’s shoulder as well and locked him in the “cattle mutilation.” Danielson then hit his famous kicks on Page on the ring post but Page moved and Danielson grabbed his knee. That gave Page the upper hand on Danielson.

Hangman hit a Tombstone Piledriver onto Danielson which was another cool moment in the match. This match is officially the longest match in AEW history as it approaches the 45-minute mark. Hangman Page hit his finishing move on Bryan on the ring apron which knocked Danielson to the floor. Page then went to jump on Danielson who moved out of the way and threw Page through a table that was holding the ring bell on it.

Danielson lifted up the mat outside the ring and hit Page with a DDT on the concrete floor. Danielson went to back suplex Page off the top rope but Page countered with a flip and hit Danielson with his famous lariat. The match ultimately ended in a 60-minute time limit draw between the two wrestlers because neither could put the other guy away. Page looked like he was about to win it with the “buckshot lariat,” before the bell rang.

Winner: AND STILL AEW World Champion Hangman Adam Page

After the match, the SuperKliq and Bobby Fish cut a promo on The Best Friends. SuperKliq and Bobby Fish challenge The Best Friends to an 8-man tag team match on Rampage this Friday. Also, Adam Cole announces that next Wednesday there is a big surprise coming up on the Christmas edition of AEW.

Wardlow vs Matt Sydal

The match starts off with Sydal getting his quick offense in and taking the fight to the beast Wardlow. However, Wardlow counters quickly and grounds Sydal. Shawn Spears gets the mic and tells Wardlow to pin Sydal because he’s not getting up. Wardlow hits another powerbomb on Sydal and pins him.

Winner: Wardlow

After the match, Spears attacks Sydal with a chair. MJF calls Spears and tells Spears to tell Wardlow that he has to go pick up some champagne for him after his victory over Dante Martin tonight. We also see a video package on Tay Conti and Penelope Ford’s rivalry. Conti challenges Ford to a submission match and this will be taking place on Friday at Rampage.

We also see a Malakai Black promo video. Black talks about how his house needs people and that he learned from his past. It is revealed that he has brought someone new into the House of Black. The video package ends when he tells the person, who we didn’t see yet, “now you’re so much more than a king.”

Hikaru Shida vs Serena Deeb

The match gets off to a hot start for Shida. She takes the fight to Deeb quickly and gains the upper hand fast. However, Deeb counters and takes the fight to Shida herself. Serena Deeb locks in a figure-four leg lock on Shida around the ring post, which was a cool moment. The match was all Serena Deeb for the most part.

Shida was able to fight back and get back into this match. The match ended when Serena Deeb removed the turnbuckle pad and was kicked into the turnbuckle by Hikaru Shida, causing Shida to pin her. Another great match between the two women.

Winner: Hikaru Shida

After the match, Schiavone interviews the Varsity Blondes. They are pissed off at Malakai Black for what he did to Julia Hart next week. They call him a coward for what he did to her. Pillman then tries to cool off Griff Garrison and Garrison pushes him and says next week he wants to fight Black.

We also hear from Eddie Kingston ahead of his match on Friday. He announces that it’s going to be him, Lucha Bros, and P’N’P taking on Daniel Garcia, 2.0, and whoever they can find to team up with them.

MJF makes his way down to the ring holding a microphone. He says that Texas is a dump, amongst other things that got the crowd to boo him. He also calls out CM Punk and calls him the “new Ryback.”

Dynamite Diamond Ring Match: MJF vs Dante Martin

The match starts out with MJF playing to the crowd. Martin then slaps him in the face and puts him in a headlock. The two then do a little bit of chain wrestling. Dante hit some of his high-flying moves and went for the early pin on MJF that MJF kicked out of.

MJF rolls out of the ring to escape Martin but runs back in the ring. Martin attempts a flip from the top rope but MJF pushes him off and causes Martin to go face-first into the barricade. From this moment on, it was all MJF.

MJF tried to cheat to win by putting his feet on the ropes, but the referee kicked him in the legs. Dante Martin takes the fight back to MJF and hits him with some of his cool high-flying moves. The match ends after a distraction by Ricky Starks, MJF puts Martin in the armbar and taps out.

Winner: MJF

After the match, FTR comes out to celebrate. The lights go out and when they come back on, Sting and Darby Allin are in the ring taking the fight to FTR.  MJF low-blows Sting and this gives FTR and MJF the upper hand. CM Punk comes out to make the save for Sting and Darby. When Punk hits the ring, MJF and FTR leave the ring. CM Punk announces that next week it will be Darby, Sting, and Punk taking on MJF and FTR.
