Toni Storm is no longer with the WWE. Sean Ross Sapp of Fightful reported the news during a live Q&A stream on Wednesday.

Sean Ross Sapp followed up the news via Fightful Select to confirm that Storm asked for her release.

Storm was a member of the WWE SmackDown roster, where she recently competed against Charlotte Flair for the WWE SmackDown Women’s Championship. Before being called up to the main roster she competed in both the NXT and NXT UK brands, holding the NXT UK championship for 231-days.

Storm’s main event run was highly anticipated by fans, unfortunately, she was not well-booked once she was moved up.

Outside of the WWE, Storm was recognized as one of the best women’s wrestlers in the industry. She competed for companies like Stardom, PROGRESS, and British Empire Wrestling. She has multiple championship runs that were longer than 200 days. For example, she was the PROGRESS Women’s Champion for 357 days and the World of Stardom Champion or 258.

Storm is the latest name released from the WWE in a year where more than 70 performers were cut from the promotion. Going back to the start of the COVID-19 global pandemic, more than 100 wrestlers have been released including the likes of Braun Strowman, Mickie James, the IIconics, and John Morrison.
