“Walter’s Last Stand” marks his last match as a part of WWE NXT UK

Walter is officially heading to the United States.

Walter joined the NXT brand back in 2019 and mostly competed in WWE NXT UK while making sporadic appearances in the US-based NXT. Fans wanted him to make a full-time run with NXT like Pete Dunne did after his NXT UK title run, with the hopes that he’d appear on the main roster. Now it seems like that is one step closer to happening.

WWE made the announcement via the promotion’s social media accounts on Thursday, including a video lauding Walter’s 870-day run as the NXT UK Champion. He also spoke on the transition as he prepares to leave the UK brand after “Walter’s Last Stand” next week.

“Ever since I arrived in NXT UK in January 2019, I’ve dominated this brand,” Walter said. “But now the time has come, it’s my last match in NXT UK, at least for now. For me, the mat is sacred.”

Could Walter be a special entrant into the 2022 Royal Rumble?

With the Royal Rumble set for Saturday, January 29, it speculated he will make an appearance in that match. Walter has been on a WWE PPV in the past, competing as a part of Team NXT back in 2019, but he was eliminated in under three minutes. A move that many felt was highly disrespectful of his talent and the love that fans have for him.

Walter’s move could also signify that the other members of Imperium, Fabian Aichner, and Marcel Barthel could follow him up to the main roster. Those two individuals are currently the NXT Tag Team Champions and are putting on some of the best work that the division has seen to date.
