Naomi is one of the most well-liked stars on the WWE roster. Regardless of if she’s on television frequently or not, fans continue to push to see her involved in some fashion. With the spotlight firmly on her and Charlotte Flair, she had a career-defining moment in the main event. At the end of the match, it was clear, Naomi belongs amongst the best that WWE’s women’s division has to offer.

For twenty minutes, Flair and Naomi put on one of the best matches WWE television has seen in 2022. In what was widely a mediocre show, the two ladies put the entire broadcast on their back, creating the moment that fans will remember from this week’s episode. Naomi didn’t get the victory, but she proved to those watching and hopefully decision-makers in the back that she’s a main event talent that deserves a top-tier run.

Naomi is a two-time SmackDown women’s champion. It’s been almost five years since she’s held a championship around her waist and that moment is long overdue. In professional wrestling, being a champion isn’t about who the best wrestler on the roster is at the time. In fact, it’s never about that point as the title scene for both men and women would look totally different than it does today. Instead, the champion contains a right mix of star power, in-ring skill, and the presentation of a cross-over star. Naomi has all those elements and WWE must utilize them while the opportunity is here.

WWE has an issue at the top of its women’s division on the main roster. Outside of the Four Horsewomen, the rest of the group are not booked in a consistently strong fashion. Fans want to see more from the likes of Naomi, Liv Morgan, Bianca Belair, and others, but WWE Creative continues to go back to the same group. It’s especially apparent now that Ronda Rousey is back. When she leaves once again as all part-timers do, WWE could lean on plenty of names for great women’s action and Naomi is one of them.

Naomi has been featured on television a lot, but it’s time for this angle with Sonya Deville to come to an end with Naomi getting the final victory. Going any other direction would be ridiculous and reap the promotion even more backlash for how they book women of color on their show.

SmackDown’s main event showed that Naomi is among the best women’s performers on the WWE roster. The division needs improved booking for all the ladies on the roster, and she’s one of the names that could be positioned to carry the entire group.
