WWE Raw Predictions: Cody Rhodes Will Absolutely Return To WWE
By Mark Justice
WWE Raw will only be smoke and mirrors for its 1500th episode this week because Cody Rhodes is returning to WWE on the road to WrestleMania 38. In this week’s episode, there are neither scheduled matches nor scheduled segments. However, this historic episode will likely see the returns of legends (i.e. Stone Cold Steve Austin), hall of famers (i.e. Edge), and celebrities (i.e. Logan Paul) who are rumored for WrestleMania Programs.
With that being addressed, it’s now time to preview and predict what will actually occur on this week’s episode of WWE Raw.
WWE Raw is scheduled to take place on February 21, 2022, at 8 p.m. ET/7 p.m. CT live on the USA Network. Here are some predictions for this week’s show.
Brock Lesnar defeated Bobby Lashley, AJ Styles, Austin Theory, Riddle, and Seth Rollins inside the Elimination Chamber to become the new WWE Champion. The Beast Incarnate is now scheduled to battle Roman Reigns for both championships at WrestleMania. With the exception of Bobby Lashley who will reportedly miss WrestleMania due to shoulder surgery, it is expected that the other four contestants in that Elimination Chamber match will be booked for important main card bouts at WrestleMania 38.
AJ Styles has been pushing for a dream match against Edge, and it will very likely happen because WWE has reportedly pitched that match idea. Austin Theory will likely battle Damian Priest for the United States Championship as a consolation prize for failing to expect the unexpected in the main event scene, as Vince McMahon ordered. Riddle will likely battle Randy Orton in a singles match or team up with Orton to regain the Raw Tag Team Championships from Alpha Academy. However, Seth Rollins has no clear direction on WWE Raw.
When Big E was WWE Champion, there were rumors about Big E vs. Seth Rollins being planned for WrestleMania 38. However, now that those plans have been scrapped and Big E got traded back to SmackDown, Seth Rollins needs a new opponent at WrestleMania. Since his tag partner, Kevin Owens, will reportedly be busy with Stone Cold Steve Austin and there have been rumors about Cody Rhodes returning to the WWE, Cody Rhodes vs. Seth Rollins would be the ideal match to book for the grandest stage of them all.
In 2012, when Seth Rollins was NXT Champion, he took to Twitter to dispute The Miz’s claim on commentary that Cody Rhodes is the future of the WWE. They can use that nugget as a way to kick off the storyline. In order for Rhodes to prove that he has significantly changed from undesirable to undeniable in WWE, he must defeat Rollins at WrestleMania and make Rollins regret ever refuting the claim that Rhodes can be the future of the WWE. Hopefully, some WWE vs. AEW shots get thrown in there too.
