AEW Dynamite: Preview and Predictions for March 2, 2022
AEW Dynamite will return home to Daily’s Place in Jacksonville, Florida on Wednesday night and will be broadcast live on TBS.
Dynamite’s go-home show before Sunday’s upcoming Revolution card has very few announced segments. Only two matches and Tony Khan’s big announcement are confirmed parts of Wednesday’s show. And if this week’s Dynamite is anything like last week’s it will be another promo-driven episode that continues to build fantastic stories heading into the pay-per-view.
Last week we got a different sort of promo from MJF. The normally brash and arrogant Friedman recounted the trauma of his childhood and the abandonment he felt when CM Punk left wrestling with watery eyes and a tremble in his voice as he shone some light on what amounted to MJF’s villain origin story. It will be interesting to see how this plays out over the next six days.
In addition to the continuation of this story, we are also scheduled to get a trios tag match involving both Adam Page and Adam Cole as well as a Casino Battle Royale to determine who will join ReDRagon and Jurassic Express in the three-way tag team title match at Revolution.
And who could forget the huge announcement that Tony Khan has for us as well?
This week’s Dynamite promises to be a fun two hours as we head to Revolution.
Let’s take a look at what to expect from this week’s episode of AEW Dynamite.
At last week’s tag team Battle Royale ReDRagon punched their ticket to the triple threat match at Revolution and a chance at the AEW Tag Team Titles that are currently held by Jurassic Express.
This edition will be a different setup than last week’s if it follows suit with the tag team Casino Battle Royale that took place at last year’s Revolution, where two tag teams start in the ring, and another team joins every 90 seconds.
Then there is the possibility of a joker team as well.
While we don’t know the identities of any of the teams participating, it is kind of a moot point. The Young Bucks need to win this and move into Revolution’s tag team title match.
But just because the winner of the match seems like a foregone conclusion, that doesn’t mean that the match can’t have a surprise.
And that surprise will be the Briscoes making an appearance in the match and costing FTR a chance at a victory, paving the way for the Jackson brothers to pick up the victory. Winners: The Young Bucks
Tony Khan makes a huge announcement
This could really be a number of things. The rumors have been running rampant online and the guesses have been all over the place.
It could be a super show with another promotion, it could have something to do with Ring of Honor, and we could finally be getting those trios titles that have been teased for a couple of years.
But the most likely scenario is that Khan has purchased the rights to Ring of Honor’s tape collection and has struck a deal with HBO Max as a streaming service for both past matches in Ring of Honor and AEW. Tony Khan has sold AEW and ROH content for streaming to HBO Max
MJF continues his mind games with CM Punk
MJF showed a side of himself on last week’s Dynamite that we had never seen before.
Has MJF’s connection to CM Punk throughout the years brought out another side of MJF that is genuinely scarred by his hero leaving wrestling in 2014?
Absolutely not.
Once CM Punk made it known that the stipulation for his match with MJF at Revolution would be a dog collar match, MJF immediately started plotting.
And since CM Punk took away MJF’s ability to run during the match, Friedman took the only path left available for him, playing on Punk’s emotions. And MJF is now living in Punk’s mind rent-free.
And it will give MJF the edge that he needs to play on Punk’s sympathy when they meet at Revolution. MJF continues the hurt fan ploy heading into Revolution
Alex Reynolds, John Silver, & Adam Page vs Adam Cole & ReDRagon
Ahead of their AEW Title match at Revolution, Adam Page and Adam Cole will square off as part of a trios match on this week’s Dynamite.
With the overwhelming thought being that “Hangman” Page is going to retain his title at Revolution, it makes sense to give the heels a win here to not only add some heat to their title match but to build up ReDRagon before they get their shot at the AEW Tag Team Titles.
Adam Cole will most likely stay away from Adam Page for the majority of this match, leaving Kyle O’Reilly and Bobby Fish to do most of the work.
And before ReDRagon and Adam Cole find a way to pin Alex Reynolds, one of the most underrated performers on the AEW roster, John Silver, will once again find a way to steal the show.
But in the end, the heels will stand tall to end the match and create more suspense for an absolutely stacked Revolution card coming up on Sunday. Winners: Adam Cole & ReDRagon
