UPDATE:

The Mercury News is reporting that Cain Velasquez allegedly shot the stepfather of a man who was recently charged with molesting a close relative of Velasquez.

Last week, the relative was reportedly molested by a man at a home daycare. The age and relationship of the victim to Velasquez is being withheld due to their age and because they are a victim of sexual abuse.

The young victim’s accused abuser has been named as Harry Eugene Goularte. He lives at his mother’s home, which is where the home daycare runs from. Goularte was charged with one felony count of a lewd and lascivious act with a child under the age of 14. After his arraignment last Friday, Goularte was granted supervised release.

On Monday, Velasquez allegedly shot at a vehicle that was carrying Goularte, his stepfather, and another person. Goularte’s stepfather was hit at least once and is expected to survive.

MMA Legend and former WWE Superstar Cain Velasquez have been charged with attempted murder after an incident on February 28 in Morgan Hills, California.

One man was taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries after being shot at 3:14 PM PT near the intersection of Monterey Highway and Bailey Avenue.

Late Monday night, Velasquez was arrested on an attempted murder charge. He is currently being held at the Santa Clara County Department of Corrections without bail. The motive is unclear and the circumstances are still being investigated. According to TMZ, Cain is due in court on Wednesday at 12 PM PT.

Velasquez is a two-time UFC heavyweight champion and has beaten big names such as Brock Lesnar and Junior Dos Santos. After losing in a 26-second bout to Francis Ngannou, he retired in 2019. He tried his hand at wrestling both in Mexico and the US.

In March 2019, he made his debut for AAA Worldwide at Triplemania XXVII. He was in a trios match with Cody Rhodes and Psycho Clown against  Taurus, Killer Kross, and Texano, Jr. He had another match for the promotion at  Lucha Invades NY. He again teamed with Psycho Clown and Brian Cage against Taurus, Texano, Jr., and Rey Escorpion.

A few months later, he made his WWE debut with Rey Mysterio; they confronted Lesnar after Lesnar won the WWE Championship. On Halloween, Velasquez faced Lesnar at Crown Jewel 2019, where he lost to “The Beast Incarnate”. He was then kept off WWE TV, reportedly for a pre-existing knee injury.

Velasquez was rumored to take part in Royal Rumble 2020. He was reportedly pulled last minute and there was heat on him for not telling WWE about his knee injury prior to signing with the company. He was released in April 2020 as part of one of WWE’s many budget cuts.
