AEW fans should be excited for the partnership with DDT Pro Wrestling
This week, some very interesting news broke as All Elite Wrestling announced a partnership with DDT Pro-Wrestling, a prominent Japanese promotion. The plan allows for the two organizations to swap performers and is an interesting step for both companies. AEW fans should be excited about the news as it continues to open the proverbial “Forbidden Door” with some intriguing opportunities in the future.
“I’d like to take this opportunity to say congratulations to DDT on their 25th anniversary,” AEW Vice President of Talent Relations, Christopher Daniels, said during a video announcement. “I’d like to also announce that AEW and DDT have come to an agreement to bring DDT’s wrestlers to the United States of America. I am looking forward to introducing the top talent from DDT to the American wrestling fanbase.”

DDT played an important role in the development of many of AEW’s top stars. Most will recognize that Kenny Omega spent a lot of time in that company during his years in Japan, but individuals like Britt Baker, Joey Janela, Jungle Boy, and even Marko Stunt have DDT title reigns on their resume. Even Maki Ito has had her fair share of matches in DDT.
Looking at the DDT roster, there are individuals that fans should want to see in an AEW ring and vice versa. Masahiro Takanashi, MAO, Yuki Ino, and, yes even an appearance by none other than Yoshihiko have the potential to blow the roof off the building.
As AEW continues to find ways to partner with other organizations in wrestling, this continues to build hope that fans will get to see other stars from Japan step into the AEW ring. There are still multiple names from New Japan that fans want to see, such as Kota Ibushi and Kazuchika Okada. STARDOM, with the deepest women’s division in wrestling today, has several women that could make the jump to AEW for showcase matches.
The news of AEW and DDT was widely met with praise and positive anticipation. There’s a lot of opportunity for content that fans will enjoy and this is one of those moments in which AEW continues to improve the North American wrestling scene.
