AEW Dynamite: Preview and Predictions for March 30, 2022
AEW Dynamite is back this Wednesday and will broadcast live on TBS from Columbia, South Carolina.
Last week’s Dynamite had a nice variety of professional wrestling segments and had something for any type of wrestling fan to enjoy.
We got some great traditional wrestling between CM Punk and Dax Hardwood as well as Jay Lethal and Adam Cole.
We were also treated to a wild eight-man tornado tag team match between Sting, Darby Allin, and the Hardys as they took down Private Party, the Butcher, and the Blade.
MJF cut yet another great promo, making it clear to Wardlow and everyone watching that Wardlow is not an employee of AEW, but an employee of MJF’s. And Wardlow’s services were no longer needed inside of any AEW arena.
And the Bryan Danielson, Jon Moxley, and William Regal faction got itself a name, the Blackpool Combat Club, and they may soon have themselves a new member in Wheeler Yuta.
This week’s Dynamite is sure to start some new storylines while progressing others as we head towards April 15th’s Battle of the Belts event.
What should we expect from the announced matches on AEW Dynamite this week?
FTR vs Gunn Club
After coming off a great singles match with CM Punk last week, Dax Hardwood will get back to his bread and butter by teaming with Cash Wheeler to take on the Gunn Club.
FTR seems to be in the middle of a slow face turn over the past couple of weeks.
The turn started with the firing of Tully Blanchard. And by doing so, FTR put their loyalty to The Pinnacle in question. Their promos have slowly been starting to sound more like a face team than a heel team and their actions are following the same suit.
This really stood out when Cash Wheeler came down to the ring during Hardwood and Punk’s match last week and didn’t even attempt to interfere. He was just there to support his partner. A very face-like move.
And now, FTR will take on one of the teams in AEW that fans love to hate in Austin and Colten Gunn.
Look for FTR to continue their slow face turn with a victory over the Gunns and to also display some mixed signals when it comes to their continued alliance with MJF and Shawn Spears in the Pinnacle. Winners: FTR
The Bunny vs ??? in The Owen Hart Foundation Women’s Tournament Qualifier
In the first qualifying match for The Owen Hart Foundation Tournament, the Bunny will take on a mystery opponent that has been identified as the newest AEW signee.
The mystery signee could be any number of free agents.
While Tegan Nox, Mia Yim, and Toni Storm would be excellent additions to the women’s roster, this feels like the spot for Athena (fka Ember Moon) to debut.
And if Athena is the newest member of the AEW roster, she has a perfect first opponent in the Bunny.
The Bunny has been an under-the-radar star for AEW, playing the part of a psychotic heel to a tee. And while the Bunny will push Athena to the limit in the latter’s AEW debut, Athena will pull out the victory and her showing in this tournament will cement her as being the odds on favorite to unseat Jade Cargill as the TBS Champion in the future. Winner: Athena
Darby Allin vs Andrade El Idolo
In the most likely main event of Dynamite this week, Darby Allin and Andrade El Idolo will do battle in a singles match as the AFO and Sting and Darby Allin continue their rivalry.
If this match is given time, it will have the potential to be one of the better television matches of the early year.
On one hand, the likely presence of Sting at ringside makes it hard to imagine that Darby loses this match. Darby’s record with Sting in his corner is very impressive, where Darby struggles to pick up wins is in matches where Sting stays in the back.
But Andrade needs this win.
And it’s a good thing for Andrade that the AFO has the numbers needed to neutralize and distract Sting long enough for Andrade to gain the upper hand.
So while everything feels like this is pointing towards a Darby win, if AEW wants to continue this feud while longer the heels need to score a victory.
And the AFO will use their numbers match up to create the leverage needed to earn Andrade what might be the biggest win of his AEW career. Winner: Andrade El Idolo
