WrestleMania Smackdown: Ricochet Defends, Battle Royal Match

Tonight’s SmackDown is the special WrestleMania SmackDown. It is expected to be a big night tonight ahead of WrestleMania this weekend. We will see Ricochet defend his Intercontinental Championship against Humberto and Angel, as well as the Andre The Giant Battle Royal.

The show kicks off with the Andre The Giant Battle Royal and shows all the superstars in the ring, ahead of the match. A vignette of Andre is also shown, which was nice of WWE to do. Dolph Ziggler, Robert Roode, and Finn Balor get special entrances.

Andre The Giant Battle Royal

The match kicks off and everyone immediately starts fighting each other. Tozawa was the first wrestler eliminated and was followed by Reggie. R-Truth got eliminated as well from Damian Priest. The Viking Raiders eliminated Jinder Mahal, and The Hurt Business eliminated T-Bar.

Madcap Moss is hyped as he eliminates Drew Gulak. After Moss eliminates Gulak, Happy Corbin comes out to cheer him on. However, Corbin almost gets Moss eliminated twice. The two start fighting and Corbin makes his way back up the entrance ramp. Apollo Crews eliminates Cedric Alexander.

Shelton Benjamin goes to eliminate Crews, but Commander Azeez eliminates Benjamin. The Viking Raiders were able to eliminate Crews but get eliminated by Shanky and Azeez. The two giants had a staredown, and start throwing punches at each other. The rest of the superstars team up to eliminate the two giants.

Finn Balor eliminates Damian Priest and Ziggler eliminates Ciampa. The final four are Balor, Ziggler, Roode, and Moss. Balor attempts to eliminate Ziggler, but Roode puts a stop to that. Ziggler and Roode worked together to try to eliminate Balor.

However, Moss eliminates both Ziggler and Roode. Balor and Moss were the final two and Moss was able to do the unthinkable and win the Andre The Giant Battle Royal trophy. This was arguably the biggest win of his career.

Winner: Madcap Moss

Moss grabs the mic and says he did it all by himself. He talks about always looking up to Andre The Giant and how he was his hero. Moss tells a joke and gets booed out of the building. The crowd seemed disappointed Balor didn’t win.

Intercontinental Championship: Ricochet (c) vs Angel vs Humberto

Ricochet makes his way out to the ring first. Angel and Humberto make their way out to the ring together and have their “Los Lotharios Kiss Cam” during their entrance. The match starts off with both members of Los Lotharios attacking Ricochet.

Although billed as a triple threat match, this match is a handicap match for a good chunk of it. Los Lotharios decimate Ricochet. Ricochet does a good job at fighting back early on in this match. However, the numbers game catches up to him again and Los Lotharios take over the match again.

Angel goes to attack Humberto from behind, but Humberto catches him and they hug it out instead. Ricochet fights back again, but once again the numbers game is too much for Ricochet to handle. Humberto attempts a pin on Ricochet and Ricochet kicks out, Angel then tries to pin Ricochet but Ricochet kicks out again.

This makes both members of Los Lotharios angry at each other. Humberto rolls up Angel and attempts to pin him, but Angel kicks out at two. As they continue fighting, Ricochet finally gets back into this thing and takes them both out. Ricochet attempts to hit Angel with a 630, but Angel stops him from climbing up to the top.

Ricochet kicks him and makes his way back up to the top. Humberto this time gets involved and tries to stop Ricochet. However, Ricochet blocks and throws Humberto onto Angel. Ricochet hits a 630 on Angel and follows it up with a Recoil on Humberto. Ricochet pins Humberto to get the win and retain his title.

Winner: And Still Intercontinental Champion, Ricochet

After the match, we see a video package ahead of Kevin Owen’s special “KO Show” at WrestleMania with a special guest, Stone Cold Steve Austin. In the video package, Stone Cold thanks Kevin Owens and says that Owens woke up something deep inside of him that’s been asleep for years.

Naomi and Sasha Banks vs Queen Zelina and Carmella

Naomi makes her entrance first, followed by Sasha Banks. Queen Zelina and Carmella are in the ring already. The other two teams that will be in the fatal-four-way match on Sunday are also out to watch the match. Sasha Banks and Carmella start out the match for their teams.

Carmella hits a sneak attack on Banks to quickly gain the upper hand. Carmella quickly tags in Zelina and the two take the fight to Banks. Zelina quickly tries to pin Sasha, but Sasha kicks out easily. Zelina and Carmella exchange quick tags while taking the fight to Sasha.

Sasha is very close to tagging in Naomi, but Zelina cheap shots Naomi to remove her from the apron. However, Naomi quickly hops up and tags in the match. Naomi takes out both Zelina and Carmella. Naomi hits a split-legged moonsault on Zelina and picks up the win.

Winner: Sasha Banks and Naomi

After the match, we see footage from Ronda Rousey’s training camp. Kayla Braxton is seen interviewing Ronda from her camp. Ronda says that she’s going to be relaxing until tomorrow but tomorrow she will either make Charlotte tap out, or rip her arm off and give it to her family as a souvenir.

We see a hype video for the Rousey and Charlotte match tomorrow night as well. Charlotte Flair makes her way out to the entrance ramp to cut a promo. She says that she will destroy Ronda tomorrow. Charlotte says Ronda is acting like she has her anger under control and she’s cool, but that she knows better.

Charlotte says that she’s cool and that she will beat Rousey to a pulp and walk out still Smackdown Women’s Champion. After the promo, we see Madcap Moss with the trophy. Corbin scares him with McIntyre’s sword and starts laughing.

We also see a video highlighting the main event match on night two of WrestleMania, the winner takes all match between the Universal Champion, Roman Reigns, and the WWE World Heavyweight Champion, Brock Lesnar.

Rick Boogs is seen playing guitar and plays Shinsuke Nakamura out to the ring. McAfee gets up and dances on the table like he always does. However, Austin Theory runs out of the crowd and trips him so he goes crashing down onto the table. McAfee gets up and chases Theory all the way to Mr. McMahon’s office.

McAfee kicks open the door and Vince barges out and threatens to cancel his WrestleMania match. McAfee says no and Vince tells him to go do his job.

Rick Boogs vs Jimmy Uso

Rick Boogs quickly kicks Uso in the gut and goes on the offensive. However, Uso counters and it’s a pretty even match to kick things off. Boogs catches Uso and curls him ten times before body slamming him.

Boogs goes for another body slam, but Uso counters this time and sends Boogs into the corner post. Boogs lifts Uso up from his knees and military presses him into a fallaway slam. This was an extremely impressive display of strength.

Out of nowhere, Austin Theory makes his way out to the ring. He steals a fan’s soda and throws it at McAfee. As Theory makes his way back up the entrance ramp. He is attacked by Finn Balor. Balor throws Theory into the ring and beats him up.

All hell has broken loose, during the match.  Jimmy and Jey Uso are brawling with Shinsuke Nakamura and Rick Boogs. The bell rings as the referee can no longer control what’s going on in the ring. The match gets turned into a six-man tag team match.

Rick Boogs, Shinsuke Nakamura, and Finn Balor vs Austin Theory and The Usos

Nakamura quickly takes the fight to Jey Uso. However, Uso is able to counter and quickly takes control of the match. Theory makes the tag and comes in and continues to pick apart Nakamura. Nakamura fights back into the match and tags in Boogs.

Boogs and Theory fight in the middle of the ring. Boogs continues to show off his impressive display of strength by hitting throws and lifts on Austin Theory. Finn Balor makes the tag and comes into the match. Balor continues to stomp away on Theory as McAfee is very into this match.

Jimmy Uso hits a cheap shot on Balor and Theory is able to take control. Theory makes the tag into Jimmy Uso as they remain in control of Finn Balor. Balor is finally able to fight back into the match and make the hot tag onto Shinsuke Nakamura.

Nakamura takes out everyone and hits Theory in the middle of the ring. Nakamura completely destroys Theory and attempts to pin him but gets double superkicked by The Usos. Boogs throws them both out of the ring but they pull Boogs out and throw him into the steps.

Nakamura tags in Balor and Balor takes out all three members of the other team. Balor hits a slingblade on Theory and attempts for his patented double foot stomp. However, the Usos interfere and distract Balor. Theory hits his finisher on Balor and pins him for the win.

Winners: Austin Theory and The Uso’s

After the match, McAfee charges the ring and stands on the apron. Cole follows him and tries to tell McAfee to wait until Sunday. McAfee listens and heads back to the announce table. Happy Corbin and Madcap Moss make their way down to the ring with Drew McIntyre’s sword.

Happy Corbin is hosting “Happy Talk” with his special guest, Madcap Moss. Moss welcomes everyone to “Happy Talk” and says tonight is a special night and special edition because he just won the Andre The Giant Battle Royal match. Corbin interrupts him and says that he gets it and Moss did it as his prodigy.

Corbin says that he is euphoric. Corbin shows a video of how he got Drew McIntyre’s sword. Corbin holds up the sword and says that the sword is his lucky sword. He also says that tomorrow he destroys Drew McIntyre once and for all at WrestleMania.

Corbin says the sword is a weapon in his hand. He also says that the sword’s new name is “euphoria” because it is more of a happy name. He tells Moss to give him a joke but interrupts him with a rude joke at Drew McIntyre and his late mother.

Drew McIntyre makes his way out to the ring and he looks pissed. Moss meets McIntyre on the ramp and McIntyre knocked him out immediately. McIntyre grabs a chair and heads into the ring. McIntyre hits Corbin with the chair and destroys the “Happy Talk” set.

McIntyre gets his sword back and cuts the table in half that was set up for the set. Smackdown ends with McIntyre fuming in the middle of the ring and putting the sword through the ring as the pyro goes off.
