Heading into WrestleMania 38, the fact that both men’s world championships are being defended in the same match just goes to show that there is a shortage of main event level stars to compete for the WWE and Universal Championships. Here are three superstars that I believe should be featured heavily and elevated to become main event-level talent coming out of WrestleMania 38.

1. Madcap Moss

Whether you like it or not, there is no denying that Madcap Moss is incredibly talented. His over-the-top personality combined with his size and strength gives him the potential to be a big star in the WWE. Separating from Happy Corbin at WrestleMania 38 would instantly provide Moss a huge boost in the eyes of the fans and his position on the SmackDown roster.

We’ve seen just how tough Madcap Moss is in his match with Drew McIntyre at Crown Jewel when he took a nasty looking fall right onto his neck. Thankfully, he was okay and managed to finish the match, opening a ton of people’s, like myself, eyes to his star potential for carrying on to finish the match and managing to not severely hurt himself.

Of course, I’m not saying Madcap Moss is a future main event player, but ditching the stupid gimmick of telling awful jokes while wearing suspenders would certainly be a step in the right direction. Moss has all the tools to be incredibly successful in the WWE and you can tell they are high on him as a talent given how much he’s been featured on television recently and his victory in the Andre the Giant Memorial Battle Royal on SmackDown.

And if this means we never have to hear another unfunny joke or see another Happy Talk segment, how could you not want this to happen?

2. Damien Priest

Damien Priest had an awesome match at WrestleMania last year, tagging with Bad Bunny, won the US Title at SummerSlam, and went undefeated for most of 2021. Unfortunately, it seems like the momentum behind Damien Priest has disappeared as of late; something that must be corrected going forwards after WrestleMania.

Priest came onto the main roster as one of the few NXT call-ups that weren’t completely changed and was booked pretty strong until recently. He was picking up wins on Raw every week and regularly defending the US Championship after winning the belt. So, what happened? Somewhere along the way, his character developed a multiple personality disorder where he would be a happy smiling guy and then flip a switch and become an angry evil side of himself during his matches.

As a result, people weren’t sure whether to cheer or boo this new attitude of Damien Priest and he began falling down the card, to the point where he isn’t even on WrestleMania this year! Priest has all the tools to be one of the top superstars on Raw, and for a while last year, it felt like he was on his way there.

WWE has the opportunity now to push some fresh new faces into the main event picture and contend for the WWE and Universal Championships post-‘Mania, and how could you not think of Damien Priest being right up there at the top of the card?

After an up and down 2021, there is no better time to elevate Damien Priest to next level as a future world champion in the WWE coming out of WrestleMania 38.

3. Cody Rhodes

Two months ago, I wrote an article about how Cody Rhodes is the most intriguing person in wrestling. His matches and segments in AEW were always entertaining, primarily to see what kind of crowd reaction he would receive and how he would respond to it. As the AEW fans clamoured for him to turn heel, he made the ultimate heel move by leaving AEW to reportedly sign with the WWE.

A strong debut at WrestleMania 38 or on the episode of Raw after Mania is the perfect way to reintroduce Cody Rhodes back into the WWE. Since leaving WWE in 2016, Cody Rhodes has grown and developed into a main event-level talent and should be seen as such when he debuts in the WWE.

WWE has a unique opportunity here given that Rhodes is the first major name from AEW to jump ship and sign with them. How they use Cody Rhodes will definitely be a future consideration for many of AEW’s top stars when their contracts expire and they have the choice to go elsewhere.

Cody has proven he can wrestle and talk on a microphone better than most of the wrestling industry today and WWE should capitalize on all the buzz surrounding him by heavily featuring him in top angles and matches coming out of WrestleMania.

Next. WrestleMania: This was the perfect year for Sasha Banks vs Trish Stratus. dark

As I am writing, the rumours swirling ahead of WrestleMania 38 are that Rhodes will be Mr. McMahon’s chosen opponent for Seth Rollins on Night 1. That remains to be seen but what better way to elevate and position Cody Rhodes as a top-level superstar than a match against one of the best in the world today in Rollins.
