WWE: Cody Rhodes is the wrestler to take the title off of Roman Reigns

Ever since he returned at Summerslam on Aug. 23, 2020, Roman Reigns has been on another level on WWE TV. Reigns attacked Braun Strowman and the Fiend Bray Wyatt after their main event match which started the beginning of the Tribal Chief.

Since he became a heel, Reigns won the Universal Championship at Payback on Aug. 30 which he is still holding for over 600 days. Reigns also won the WWE championship by beating Brock Lesnar at WrestleMania while unifying the WWE and Universal championships.

Reigns have been unbeatable ever since he became a heel. The problem with that is there isn’t anyone who can be the one who dethrone him until they signed Cody Rhodes. Rhodes should be the one to beat Reigns.

Why Should Rhodes be the one to beat Reigns and win the WWE Universal title?

Rhodes is fresh off being the Executive Vice President in All Elite Wrestling. He was also one of the founding fathers of AEW. And his match in AEW he was the TNT champion. Along with winning his first match back in WWE against Seth Rollins, Rhodes has the star power and the momentum. That’s why he should be the one who dethrones the Tribal Chief.

When Rhodes returned to WWE at WrestleMania 38, he was the talk of the town. On the Monday Night Raw after WrestleMania 38, Rhodes said he’s back so he can win the one title that his dad Dusty Rhodes never won. And that title is the WWE championship.

AJ Styles is busy feuding with Edge, Drew McIntyre needs a couple more wins before everyone can believe he could beat Reigns, Ricochet isn’t there yet and everyone else either lost against Reigns already or they should not be challenging Reigns right now.

Rhodes is right now the only wrestler who can believably beat Reigns and become the unified WWE Universal champion. But now it’s not the time for him to face Reigns. That time should be Summerslam or WrestleMania 39.

He has a match with Rollins at WrestleMania Backlash which Rhodes should win. After that match, he should have at least a couple more matches on PPV before facing Reigns at Summerslam unless they want to wait until WrestleMania to do the match. I wouldn’t wait until WrestleMania to do the title change if I was Vince McMahon because everyone will be tired of Reigns holding the championship for over two and a half years.

Both Reigns and Rhodes did wrestle each other before. The two matches were the Rhodes Brothers vs the Shield in a two-on-three handicap match at battleground 2013. And the Rhodes Brothers vs Rollins and Reigns for the Tag team championships a few weeks later at Raw a few weeks later.

WWE does not have a ton of stars right now. A big name just fell into their laps. Cody Rhodes is the biggest free agent to sign with WWE since AJ Styles. And Roman Reigns can’t hold the title forever. Rhodes should beat Reigns and he should beat him at Summerslam because it will be a great moment for Rhodes to win the championship that Dusty Rhodes never won.
