AEW: Hookhausen is what both Hook and Danhausen need right now

There may not be two more different personalities on the AEW roster than Hook and Danhausen.  So the fact that they have been featured together on AEW television has seemed a bit odd from the start.  But with each passing week, it has become more and more apparent that the fans are very into the idea of a Hookhausen team.

Danhausen made his AEW debut at the Beach Break episode of AEW Dynamite in late January to a lot of fanfare.  But because he was still recovering from a broken leg, he was very limited in what he could do.

But AEW did a good job of keeping him involved while his leg continued to heal, mostly by having  Danhausen curse people during matches, with pretty successful results.

About six weeks earlier, Hook would make his in-ring debut as well.  The second-generation wrestler was very impressive in his debut and has spent the past five months running through anyone that has been put in front of him in AEW.

There was absolutely no similarity between the two very popular competitors and they seemed to be working their respective way to very different paths in AEW.

As unlikely as it seemed that the two men’s paths would cross, Danhausen decided to try to curse Hook about a month ago, and much to Danhausen’s chagrin, he would be unsuccessful in doing so.

Since then Danhausen has tried repeatedly to curse Hook to no avail.  The normally good-natured Danhausen would lose his cool to the point of challenging Hook to a fight.  As things seemed to be coming to a head between the two, they would be attacked by Tony Nese and Mark Sterling, forcing Danhausen and Hook to work together to fend off their adversaries.

Danhausen extended his hand to Hook in a show of friendship but Hook was having none of it, even though the crowd was chanting “Hookhausen” over and over again.  While Hook might be slower to come around on the idea than the rest of us, we seem to be heading towards one of the more odd-couple tag teams in recent memory.

Hookhausen is exactly what both Hook and Danhausen need right now.

Hookhausen is a good idea for a number of reasons.

Hook is a star in the making.  He has garnered a loud crowd reaction ever since his in-ring debut in December and has shown no signs of slowing down.  But he is still very early in his career and needs to continue to develop before moving up the ladder too far in the singles division.

So what better way to make a popular, young star even more over than by pairing him with someone already incredibly over himself, like Danhausen.

Second, as Danhausen starts to move closer to having his first AEW match, a tag team situation is the way to go.  This allows Danhausen to work his way back into ring shape without having to do too much, but still allows him to entertain the crowd.

Finally, history tells us that an odd couple tag team that consists of two popular personalities can work.  It wasn’t that long ago that the Rock and Sock Connection was one of the most popular tag teams in all of wrestling.

While Hook and Danhausen are not even in the same league as the Rock and Mankind as far as in-ring competitors, they very well could garner a similar crowd reaction as a team.

AEW's star packed roster helped filled the void created by Kenny Omega's absence. dark. Next

Hookhausen isn’t an idea that should be a long-running team.  But pairing them together in the short term could continue to elevate the popularity of both Hook and Danhausen until Hook is ready to make serious singles run.
