AEW hot take: Brittany Wonder is a signing AEW must make
By J.C.
Tony Khan has had a busy schedule between Ring of Honor and so much more on his desk that he is keeping close to the chest for now. He has taken pride in signing the best talent around the world and bringing it all together on AEW.
However, while Tony’s signings may have brought excitement, there is a lot left to be desired when it comes to the roster. There is one particular superstar Tony Khan should pay close attention to, and her name is Brittany Wonder. She is one superstar who could bring a whole lot to AEW’s women’s division and more.
What Brittany Wonder could bring to AEW.
One of the most notable things about Brittany is that she marches to the beat of her own drum. She’s very similar to current AEW superstar Eddie Kingston in terms of staying true to who she is as a superstar. She is not afraid to stay who she is and will not compromise it for anything.
It’s like what Eddie said during a promo with Jericho a while back that he doesn’t sell out. Brittany has that same power and she stays true to who she is as a competitor. She is a colorful person with a love for bringing joy to people as she wrestles.
There have been many times through Brittany’s career, she could have made that transition to powerhouse or monster many times, but she opted not to take that route. Whether fans cheer for her or boo her, she has always kept that calm, cheerful, laid-back demeanor in the ring.
Brittany continued to rise and solidified herself as the heart and soul of the West Coast. What signing her means for AEW is an unprecedented home-field advantage on the West Coast for all shows. It wouldn’t matter what city in California, Brittany would always have an advantage over her opponent.
It’s because of the foundation she was able to build at promotions like 3-2-1 Battle and Hoodslam to name a few. It can even be assumed that Brittany brings her own unique fanbase that will equal a moderate boost for weekly shows on AEW.
When it comes to her own ring work, she’s been in the wrestling business for over ten years. She brings her own unique ring style of power, speed, and showmanship to tell a story in the ring. Brittany would be yet another veteran in the locker room and would help with the storytelling aspect of the women’s division.
Even though Brittany has a calm demeanor, she is not afraid to speak her mind when it comes to women’s wrestling. Having outspoken competitors like Thunder Rosa is a start, but Brittany has been known to let her voice be heard whether it’s promotions or fans when it comes to equality in wrestling.
Having someone who is not afraid to be herself and win new fans over to see why she stayed true to herself is vital for AEW’s success. She possesses the confidence to step up with her endless love for wrestling and the fans.
What Brittany Wonder’s time in AEW could look like.
Brittany is no stranger to championships or the main event scene on any given show. The most interesting aspect is that Brittany could take two doors between the TBS champion Jade Cargill and AEW women’s champion Thunder Rosa.
As mentioned before, Brittany has a history with Thunder Rosa and they never really had time to truly end their rivalry during Rosa’s early days. It would be interesting if Tony Khan allowed time for Rosa to show that she now hits like a champion on a stage like AEW. Brittany would show how her work through the years made her a force to be reckoned with.
Brittany could also go against the current TBS champion Jade Cargill. It would be interesting as AEW has future shows on the West Coast how Jade would react to someone who has the biggest home-field advantage in the history of wrestling.
Jade has gone against the fastest, strongest, and toughest up to this point, but she has never gone against someone like Brittany Wonder in California. Very few competitors can bare how she feeds off the energy of the crowd which gives her an advantage, even if she is outmatched.
It would be an interesting case for Jade Cargill who is in her Sophomore year as a wrestler to go against a colorful and outspoken veteran to give her the challenge she craves. The match could be a career-defining moment for Jade and introduce the rest of the world to Brittany for the first time as they witness what many of us knew all along about her.
Whether Tony Khan is looking in the wrong places for signings or just a lot on his table, it would be one of the biggest mistakes for AEW to ignore the West Coast Hero Brittany Wonder. Tony needs to consider and pay close attention as Brittany continues her domination in the independent circuit.
This signing has many benefits including a bridge to new faithful fans when Tony makes the call. It will also make it that much sweeter for future West Coast shows as AEW continues to expand. Fans will have to wait, watch, and hope that the hero of the West Coast will be on the radar to become a member of AEW soon.
