AEW Dynamite: Road Rager Preview and Predictions
AEW Dynamite is back this Wednesday and will be broadcast live on TBS from St. Louis, Missouri as they present their second edition of Road Rager.
As the days continue to fall off of the June calendar and we continue to close in on the June 26th Forbidden Door pay-per-view, AEW and NJPW have less than two weeks to fill out the card that will be headlined by Jon Moxley and Hiroshi Tanahashi battling it out for the interim AEW World Title. And AEW will most likely use this episode of Dynamite to do just that.
In addition to getting some confirmed matches for Forbidden Door, this week’s Dynamite will also give us a hair vs hair match, a three-way ladder match for the AEW Tag Team Titles, an All Atlantic Championship qualifier match, and Wardlow will attempt to settle his lawsuit out of court and in the ring when he takes on 20 AEW security guards in a handicap match.
Let’s take a look at the announced matches for AEW Dynamite: Road Rager and what to expect from each.
Ethan Page vs MIro in an All Atlantic Championship qualifier match
Last Wednesday, AEW introduced a new men’s singles title when it unveiled the All Atlantic Championship Belt. They also announced four singles matches in which the winners would move on to battle it out at Forbidden Door in a fatal four-way match to crown the first-ever All-Atlantic Champion.
Last week, we saw Pac defeat Buddy Matthews in a fantastic match, and this week Miro and Ethan Page will do their best to duplicate Pac and Matthews’s effort as they battle to move onto Forbidden Door.
In most instances, it would be welcome to see an Ethan Page push as he has yet to really be used to his full potential in AEW. But when the man standing across the ring from Page is Miro the push of Ethan Page needs to be put on hold for at least one more week. Winner: Miro
Wardlow settles his class-action lawsuit in a 20-on-1 handicap match
Wardlow will attempt to get out from under a class-action lawsuit brought against him by stadium workers and “Smart” Mark Sterling when he takes on 20 AEW security workers in a handicap match.
This match will accomplish two important things. It will end this lawsuit nonsense between Sterling and Wardlow, freeing Wardlow up to become the next TNT Champion. It will also give the promotion another opportunity to show Wardlow off as an unstoppable force against staggering odds. Winner: Wardlow
Chris Jericho vs Ortiz in a hair vs hair match
The tension between former members of the Inner Circle continues this Wednesday when Ortiz and Chris Jericho put their hair on the line in a hair versus hair match.
The absolute best result we could hope for in this match is that Eddie Kingston gets some measure of revenge by costing Jericho both this match and his hair.
But as much as the heart may want that, the brain tells us something very different is going to happen here.
It is hard to imagine the lead singer of a rock band giving up his luscious locks, especially to just put over one of his former lackeys.
When the bell rings to signal the end of this one it will be Ortiz that finds himself much lighter up top and most likely on the business end of another JAS post-match beatdown. Winner: Chris Jericho
