With arguably WWE’s second top show, SummerSlam, approaching soon, the WWE superstars are going to be at the top of their games going into the show. However, one man needs to shine brighter at SummerSlam than the rest.

It has been a rough couple of months for the former “Architect” of The Shield, Seth “Freaking” Rollins as we near SummerSlam. The story for Rollins going into WrestleMania was about if he was even going to have a spot on the show. As we all found out, it was all a story for Cody Rhodes to return to the WWE and have a great moment at WrestleMania. However, when you start to look through the layers, it can be argued that Rollins was only used to make Cody Rhodes look like a big deal. Despite giving a stellar performance in their matches. some fans can argue that the storyline with Cody Rhodes was never meant to help Rollins in any way.

In the three matches that the two had with each other, Cody Rhodes won all three of them. In their final match inside of the deadly Hell in a Cell match, Cody Rhodes entered the match against a nearly fresh Seth Rollins with a torn pectoral muscle. With everything against him and his body actually falling apart, Cody had little to no issue with beating Rollins clean in the cell. Cody was soon gone for months to recover and Rollins with nothing to do. Since then, Rollins has continued to be entertaining week after week but has clearly lost all direction. He has lost a ton of momentum since his three losses to Rhodes and needs something to remotivate him.

He was a favorite for many to win the Money in the Bank match that was won by Theory. It seemed for a moment that the WWE may have had Seth Rollins repeat history and cash in during Brock and Roman’s championship match at SummerSlam. Unfortunately, that isn’t the case and now needs something to do at the show of the summer. Although, after the recent run that Rollins has had, he needs to have a major win or moment at SummerSlam to get him back on the right track. At the moment, it looks like Seth Rollins could be facing Riddle at SummerSlam and that could actually be exactly the match that Seth needs at the moment.

While Riddle has always been a popular superstar, he has reached a new level of popularity since his teaming with Randy Orton. RK-Bro became fan favorites and were going strong as a tag team until a legitimate injury put Randy Orton out of action. Riddle has been verbally sad that his bro Randy has been out of action but has been determined to fight in honor of his best friend. Riddle keeps Randy in the ring in spirit by finishing opponents with the RKO. He has one of the most popular stars in the company and has even recently fought for the Undisputed WWE Universal Championship. There is no argument that Riddle is on the top of his game right now.

He receives standing ovations and all of the Randy Orton fans have adopted him as their own. With that being said, he is exactly the person to beat and get your own momentum back going. As much as the fans have despised Seth Rollins since his diabolic actions against Cody Rhodes, Riddle will only gain popularity to go against Rollins. The fans would want Riddle to get revenge for Cody and shut Rollins up in the process. However, as much as Riddle could potentially need a win here as well, I believe that Seth Rollins needs the victory more.

Riddle has a ton of momentum going for him right now and honestly, he has nowhere to go with it. He has been picking up plenty of victories on live television but even more at live tour shows. He has even been picking up a number of victories over Seth Rollins when the camera isn’t rolling. Riddle’s momentum is growing hot and the best way to use that momentum is to pass it. He can send that momentum on to Seth Rollins in a great match at SummerSlam. However for Riddle’s sake, as the saying goes, nobody losses a really great match. When the match is good enough, both competitors walk out like winners and these two are good enough to have that match.

Seth “Freaking” Rollins and Riddle have the potential to steal the show at SummerSlam. Perhaps they can even add a stipulation where if Riddle wins he gets to add Matt back to his name and if Seth “Freaking” Rollins has to give up a “freaking” part of his name. I kid, I kid. However, Riddle and Seth Rollins go back to rumored backstage heat between the two to tearing the house down a few months ago on Monday Night Raw. There is nothing but potential for Riddle and Rollins to have a great feud and an even better match if done right. SummerSlam will happen at the end of the month so there is still time for the WWE to build up a match between the two.

At the moment, the SummerSlam card is lacking stories besides the match between Brock Lesnar and Roman Reigns which is the same story we’ve heard for years. SummerSlam is one dire need of something spectacular as is Seth “Freaking” Rollins. Together, Seth Rollins can steal the show at SummerSlam and SummerSlam can go down in history for hosting a classic between Seth Rollins and Riddle. Although as much as I want Seth to win the match, it would be pretty cool to see Riddle recreate Randy’s WrestleMania RKO to Rollins.
