PAC is the perfect champion to establish the AEW All-Atlantic title
PAC is the name that AEW can trust to build a new championship.
PAC finally has an AEW championship. At Forbidden Door he became the inaugural All-Atlantic champion, defeating Clark Conners, Malakai Black, and Miro in a four-way match. With that belt around his waist, the first thing he did was take it overseas to compete at RevPro in England. If this is the plan on how to utilize the All-Atlantic championship, then he is the perfect wrestler to establish that title.
PAC didn’t take his new championship and go home, at least not in that sense. Instead, he took the belt on what should be an exceptional road tour. The first match included a contest against Shota Umino at RevPro in Sheffield. PAC and the New Japan Pro Wrestling standout battled for nearly 20 minutes before PAC was able to get his hand raised. Seeing PAC take the title to other promotions overseas hints that this will be a solid use of that title.
Not only does this benefit PAC, but helps everyone involved
Allowing this belt to be defended in other organizations establishes two things. First, it highlights AEW to fans in other countries, using one of the best international names on the roster. PAC was a major get for the company when he signed with them in 2019 and remains one of the best-established names in the company. Seeing him in other promotions against the top names those companies have to offer immediately legitimizes that belt and helps elevate everyone involved.
Second, this allows AEW to continue to search beyond its borders for new talent to bring into the company, even if it is for showcase matches. For example, Thunder Rosa just lost a match to Miyu Yamashita at TJPW Summer Sun Princess and now Yamashita will take on Rosa in an upcoming match in an AEW ring. That brings one of the best, but perhaps unknown wrestlers to North American fans, and places her in the center of the hottest promotion in this part of the world. Everyone involved benefits from that collaboration. PAC with the All-Atlantic championship creates the same opportunities.
Wrestling fans have long waited for PAC to get an AEW singles championship and that moment has finally come. One day he’ll be the top champion of the company, but he’s the perfect wrestler to build this new title and elevate it to a level needed within the company.
